Results from posture and Yoga

Body:

Hi All! I'm just wondering if any one who has been doing the WW posture and Yoga DVDs, can tell me what the improvement is for bladder prolapse. I know it's different for everybody. Can any one tell me exactly how it has improved their prolapse? Does it stay up if you continue the exercises, or does it still fall down sometimes? Just curious. Trying to decide whether to go this route or go the to doctor.
Thanks so much!

We all have varying degrees of prolapse no matter what kind it is, and along with that our organs are always on the move. Those with milder prolapse will most likely see improvements sooner than those of us who have more profound prolapses. Some women can go symptom free for quite some time, but still continue to practice whole women posture and exercises.
I actually have the more profound uterine prolapse, and it took me almost a year to start really seeing improvements, but I have. I do the DVDs just about every day, along with ww walking. I will be doing this the rest of my life, happily. Go to the doctor for my prolapse? Never. I can manage this just fine on my own with Christine's help. If you are really on the fence about this, you might want to read Christine's research on how detrimental surgery is for prolapse.

Dear YogaGranny,

I was given the only option of surgery. Somehow I decided that wasn't the option for me, & managed rectocele for 17years.

Two years ago I had worsening prolapse which felt like the my other organs had fallen back and down. The feeling was like a blown - up rubber glove sitting on my vulval area.
I also had worsening hip stability with recent episodes of painful, crunching hip dislocation.

When I adopted WWP - this alone reversed any of the other threatening prolapses other than my rectocele, which has been far more manageable since.
My hip immediately stopped dislocating and thus no more devastating and frightening crunching pain.
I now do the DVD exercises regularly and will be posting soon a comprehensive account of whole - body life - long WWP benefits, I have discovered on this enlightening journey.

The quality of life without this work for me I believe, would have been virtually nil.
Best wishes,

This is a very active forum where women post virtually every day about their successes, and their frustrations as well. I suggest that you visit the forum every day or so, and follow the many discussions that are already in progress....and join in!

And, if you still considering surgery as a viable option for prolapse, you definitely need to study up a lot more. Go over to the Resources tab, look for the videos, and watch the first video on the page, called "The Whole Woman Approach".

You can certainly go to the doctor if that is your choice. Your doctor will suggest surgery, physical therapy (Kegels), trying a pessary, or not doing anything at all. None of these "solutions" is a good one. So you can stall around for awhile, while your prolapse gets worse, or you can get to work!

A bladder prolapse is extremely manageable with WW work. You need to hang around here and let a little more of the wisdom sink in. There is no cure for prolapse, and the surgical "cure" is the most damaging path you can go down, not to mention the fact that there is no coming back once you take that path. - Surviving

I had a debilitating uterine prolapse accompanied by sciatica like pain down my bottom and backs of thighs and down my inner thighs. I noticed some improvement almost immediately with the WW posture, exercises and approach. However it took some months before I really felt much improved. Now 2 1/2 years later I feel much happier, healthier and my symptoms are minimal. I sometimes have 'bad days' which is sometimes a wee bit depressing, But usually I can identify a trigger for this. (Often a lapse on my part). I now feel in control of it rather than it in control of me. I am careful with lifting in particular. But other than that there's very little in my life that I find I can't do because of my condition.
Every woman's different, but many of us have found profound relief and effective treatment via this approach.

I had ordered the Hab-it DVD and have been also reading their website. It doesn't seem that the posture they recommend is that different. The exercises to strengthen the whole pelvic support system seem reasonable. It is that much different?

Sorry, not anything like whole woman. Hab-it encourages kegel style exercises and suggests we have a pelvic floor like a basket at the bottom of our bodies. Christine's posture has us standing with a relaxed belly, chest lifted, shoulders down with a beautiful natural lumbar curve to our backs. Our organs are held and pinned into our lower bellies with intrabdominal pressure with every breath we take.
Have you had a chance to read Christine's work? There is tons of very valuable information on this site to get you started.

Here is one of the posts in which Christine discusses Hab-it (there are probably others):

Also let me point you back to your very first post where I gave you some direct links to a couple of Christine's blog articles on why we should not Kegel:

You've gotten some great information from the members here, and I hope for your own sake you will consider carefully how you will manage your prolapse going forward. No one but Christine is telling the true story. - Surviving
