Yoga dvd

Body:

Hi
Can anyone give me any advice about which Yoga dvd to buy. Is it better to start with the first wheel ?
I looked at Nikelle's video but it just mentioned the first and second as being helpful for post hysterectomy or post partum. Neither would really apply to me and I believe there are now other yoga dvds as well.
I already have the dance based one but would like to find out about yoga that complements wwposture. My daughter recently qualified as a yoga instructor but will have to give up Iyenga Yoga as it caused problems -back and leg pain due to a pelvis out of alignment. Yoga specially for a woman's anatomy seems the right way to go. I'd love to hear from anyone who is using the dvd s. Thanks Tia

Hi Tia,
I have all the DVDs and wouldn't be without any of them. Although second wheel is recommended for postpartum women, it has done tremendous things for my hips giving me a good stretching and a wonderful feeling afterwards. Each focuses on a little bit different part of us, but all work on lengthening and strengthening the muscles needed to help us hold the whole woman posture.
I actually rotate through the first aid for prolapse and the yoga DVDs daily. Just love them for the effect they have on my body, releasing that stiffness we get as we get older, especially.

Absolutely agree. The comments regarding post-partum and post-hyst are made in order to address the specific needs and limitations of those two populations, i.e., if you were post-partum, which one would be the best and safest choice? Each dvd focuses on a specific chakra, working from the bottom up! I would not be without any of them myself. - Surviving

I love all the Yoga dvds. You will want and need them all. I alternate everyday along with the First Aid for Prolapse dvd. As both S60 and AG have said, each focuses on a different chakra and a different part of the body. They make me feel a kind of hollowness of being rooted in the sand swaying in the water…..

Dear Tia,
I will have the 3rd wheel soon to work on. A few months ago, I was motivated to use the DVDs on a very regular basis because of hip issues, using the hips DVD as my base to work from, then including the 1st Wheel - I am learning to do the 2nd wheel due to better balance, a new evenness in my body, and HUGE improvement with my inner ear balance.
I am going to include the online prolapse free video in my repertoire also as that is a good one to do with limited time, though the Hips & 1st wheel take about 60min in total.
My whole body is stronger, balanced and more flexible than I ever could have imagined - without over-stressing & the no pain no gain mantra of today.
Just one of many pleasant surprises for me this week, was the great ease with which I could turn my head left and right repeatedly while waiting to turn right at an intersection while driving - my neck was so much more flexible, and I didn't realise it could have been better. I keep having revelations as to just how valuable the exercises are, with life - long benefits.
Best wishes,
Aussie Soul Sister

It does depending what you get out of yoga itself. The first wheel, I honestly just didn't enjoy it couple of years ago - I favoured the ballet workout instead. But I'm planning on revisiting it. The second wheel feels joyful to me - it's my favourite and very graceful with a nice flow. The third one is useful for a quick strong workout - it's about ten minutes long - but it feels less like yoga to me (but yoga itself is vast so that's just an opinion).

Totally agree with everyone!
They're all good. Perhaps it's just me, but I liked to start with Wheel of Yoga 1, then 2 and 3. I've got all the WW dvd's - and they're all wonderful for this work.
Just remember although the dvd's are for everyone, your personal practice is persona;. So work within your means; son't over do things and don't undergo things. Work so you feel the work and can benefit from it, but don't go too far - or too not far enough! We need to do the work but not do ourselves in!
I feel healthier and happier now than I did before engaging in this work. I wouldn't wish a prolapse on anyone - but I'm so pleased doing so gave me access to this work and way of life.
Love and best wishes,

Thank you so much ww.uk , kiko Aussie Soul Sister Rosa Mexicano and of course Aging gracefully and Surviving 60. It's wonderful to know you are all out there and took time to reply. Your comments really helped and I think I will just get all the dvd s. It seems that like all the ww material it is worthwhile to try everything and find out what works best for yourself both physically and mentally.
I feel I've been very slow even in managing the posture and was getting depressed thinking my prolapse was getting worse but recently it has all been coming together. I was looking at a picture of a ballet dancer at the barre and suddenly realised how the posture should FEEL. Instead of pulling up or pushing out here and there I think myself into the posture and now I can do it.! There are also some of the exercises I've discovered on the forum that really make a difference. Thank you all for being there. Love Tia
