Natural progesterone for uterine prolapse

Body:

Hi i would like to enquire if anyone with a uterine prolapse, has used natural progesterone cream rubbed on the skin to help. I first read about it in the book a womans complete guide to natural health by lynne paige walket. She recomends using it to restore progesterone levels and help keep the uterine prolapse from comming down as much.

I used to use a natural progesterone cream and a wild yam cream, basically the same thing, to ease hormonal issues with my earlier symptoms of perimenopause. It was meant to ease the excessive estrogen that was raging through me. This was before I actually found my uterine prolapse. Looking back, I think it was more of a placebo effect for me, and I ended up prolapsing anyway.
Maybe others will have more input with this, but I believe what Christine says about prolapse having more to do with postural habits than anything else.

Hormone supplements of any kind, even the "natural" ones, all have their drawbacks and taking them is a personal choice. Having never done so, I'm not commenting on any of the pros and cons, I'm only here to say that they don't have much to do with moving the organs forward, which as AG has pointed out, is how prolapse is managed.

If you are looking for help with balancing your hormones naturally, I would recommend two resources: Christine's Vulva Vaginal Health DVD, and Dr. Christine Horner's book, Waking the Warrior Goddess. Christine's interview with Dr. Horner on this topic can be found on the video page of the Resources on this site. - Surviving

I used a natural progesterone cream for about 1 year. It was a prescription that was mixed at a natural pharmacy for me. I think it helped me at the time as I was having so many issues. I stopped cold turkey teh day I found myself in a breast surgeons office talking about what to do for my LCIS. She said any kind of supplement whether natural or not isn't a good thing to do. Told me to go see an acupuncturist for dealing with hormone issues and menopause. By this time the issues had almost gone so I never went, but I am wondering it an acupuncturist could help with the role estrogen levels place in prolapse. Anyone have any ideas or input on that idea?

That is an interesting idea. Some people swear by acupuncture, and the idea has been brought up on the forum before. I think there were mixed reviews as to the actual reliability as a way to relieve prolapse issues. It can make you feel better for a time, just as the different types of massage, but as far as actual prolapse management, Christine's work and whole woman posture has really actually shown positive results for so many of us.
Some of the women on here swear by red clover for the relief of peri menopausal and menopausal symptoms. I had some really severe symptoms at the beginning of peri menopause, but opted to just make some dietary and personal changes in my life.
Always an interesting subject to discuss though.
