Introducing myself

Body:

New to forum here. I'm here because my gyno referred me to specialists for surgery to correct my issues and though I took the card referrals I walked out of the office saying no to surgery to myself. I went online to see if there is a non surgical approach to rectocele and cystocele. I accidentally stumbled on to this site. I ordered the whole woman health bundle with phone consult so I can't wait to get that package in a few days, but I have to avoid constipation. I eat nutribullet shakes with spin ach, apple, blueberries, raspberries, banana, avacado, goji berries, cinnamon, plain Greek yogurt, chia seeds, and protein powder. Sometimes I throw in a bit of peach or pineapple too. Splinting is something new and quite frustrating. I have been eating these shakes since November but I need to make stools softer. My gyno is no help, tho the nurse practitioner is nicer and I like her, she is on the surgery boat too. Anybody suggestions would be welcome. I never knew such things happened to us, my intro to it was quite alarming and I didn't agree with surgery before I thankfully found this site. I don't believe in surgery because I know so many things can go wrong, and there is no going back! Any way, hello to all you lovely women out there on this site. Praise The Lord I have others to come to who understand.

Hi
You will get plenty of comments and helpful tips soon. You are in the right place. We regards to constipation it is a common theme on here. You can search for past comments in the search box. Fiber is perhaps not always your friend. Try making your shakes a little more watery for a few days. Also you need to lift off the seat and pull your chest forward. You will get comments on that too or search BM posture. Deep breathing to go number two no pushing. Sorry in a rush but wanted to say hi.

Hello, Pack Momma. I'm new too. Just wanted you to welcome you again. Looks like you are already figuring out your way around the forum. These long-standing ladies will come on here soon to give you some guidance. Your diet sounds so healthy and yummy! They have a lot of experience with all of this and will help you some things for constipation and will help you with the posture!
Welcome! Sierra

I did a search on the word constipation like I was suggested to do, and bookmarked it. There is sooooo much to learn, even on just one part alone, not to mention all the other stuff. For the cystocele, I did try a pessary in the gyno's office, but it was a huge failure, and hurt so much, I left that day almost in tears. I used to look forward to a BM, now I am toilet shy. Today I had to go out I was afraid to eat anything until I was home. My shakes seem to give a morning urge after I drink them. I have to try something. Mentioning the taste of the shakes I can tell you they taste mostly like cinnamon and vanilla. I have been eating less food on plates and more in the shake. It's real food, but it sure don't feel like it, lol! I started it because I was having digestive issues. My nutritional therapist likes the nutribullet, it breaks down your food into a form your body can easily digest and extract nutrients from. Aside from the celes my body has been happy with me for the change, but I still gotta eat something from a plate. I just keep it light, that's all. I ordered the whole woman package and consultation, but after doing some reading around I may get the hips DVD and some other stuff here. First I just want to take in this and learn it before I can take in more ;)

Welcome to the page. I too left my gyno office almost in tears. All this has been so new to me and my family but honestly I love this page so far. I too stumble upon this website and it has given me courage and hope for the future. Best of wishes

There is so much stuff here for us I am glad I found this place! I know I'm going to have more questions when my package gets here. This place gives me hope. It is sad the medical community wants to make surgery the first answer. I have already learned things just in one day on the forum alone!

Hi and welcome, Pack Momma. I have been managing those 'celes quite successfully for almost 5 years now - and I wouldn't want my former body back, even without the bulges. This work can open you up to a whole new understanding and appreciation of your body. Here are a couple of things to get you started while waiting for your goodies:

Hello Pack Momma, I am also new here, but wanted to chime in on constipation. I take a magnesium citrate powder that dissolves in water before bed and that keeps everything soft and moving along. I'm not sure if long term use is advised, but it's very helpful!

Pack Momma, I am new here also and find magnesium helpful: Epsom Salt Bath, Ionic Magnesium applied behind my knees before bed at night. I also find pro-biotics helpful for regulating. I get magnesium and pro-biotics from Whole Foods but you can get them on-line. Warning, even thought pro-biotics are shipped with cold packs, they don't always arrive cold. Labels say that they are still okay, but I'm doubtful. They are in refrigerated section of Whole Foods, but I'm not sure that they didn't get "warm" during shipping process either. They are definitely more expensive retail. I use raw pro-biotics which are gluten-free, dairy-free … You don't want to add anything to the mix that will irritate the digestive process. Ask the people at Whole Foods if you need help. They will tell you to start low dose and gradually increase.
I do all of these for best results.

Sierra and Aliann, and anyone else out there, where does one get magnesium? It looks like there are different types from what I read. I am interested in trying it as I desperately need something! Things just work the way they used to now and it's very frustrating. I'm glad I found this forum, no one is talking about these issues out there!

and it have done for years! Try googling it ,it is state of the art essential fatty acids which help everything in the body to work better, rather like the oil in a car, lol! It has to be kept in the fridge and used as it is,not heated for cooking, perhaps used as a salad dressing. I take three teaspoons a day but started with one teaspoon the first week and gradually built up to the three. It definitely keep things moving, that is why u do not start with three tespoons at first, lol! I never thought of it as a preventative of constipation as I never suffered in this way but perhaps this is why I donot?! It is a very healthy addition to a modern diet and I thoroughly recommend it,not that I gain in any way financially from recommending it!I also have a spray on Magnesium oil which is good for joint aches and ideal for using after a shower. Good luck one and all!

Pack Momma,

As you've probably figured out, it can be confusing trying to find the right type for you as there are so many. My Integrative doctor told me to go to Whole Foods and get a topical oil to apply behind my knees at night. That was years ago so I don't remember the specific conversation with the specialist at Whole Foods, but I ended up with Ionic magnesium oil in a small jar with dropper for topical application. I also bought a bigger version (less expensive and more of a concentrate/refill type oil). The common denominator is the absorption. Ionic magnesium and magnesium chloride seem to have best absorption of actual magnesium unlike some types which are cheaper but give you as little as 4% efficacy. However, you will see conflicting data so do your research for yourself carefully and find one that matches to you specifically.

Additionally, I have a tendency towards IBS and I've seen articles about side effects of magnesium supplements… for people who can get loose bowels. I found some really good articles when I googled "what kind of magnesium". I don't like to cut and paste links that could be subjective on here, so certainly do your research. Be sure to make sure that you are on a holistic site and that is not specifically trying to sell you something. Their research can be swayed. I tend to have some sites that I trust, but still don't buy from them, I just compare the information.

By all means, google the foods which contain magnesium also. I have an organic, local, clean diet of lots of veggies, fruit and clean, pasture-raised meat (I have auto-immune/thyroid and need the nutrients of the meat but that's just me, not for everyone). The processed foods will fill you up and leave you empty of vital nutrients.

I know that the better absorbed forms can be more expensive in some cases but my experience with supplements is that food is best, and, don't get the cheap version supplement from the drug store - you are throwing you money away. On the flip side, don't be swayed by hype on the internet for some of these expensive brands.

Hope that helped some anyway ;-)

Thank you, we have a whole foods about an hour away, I will look into it and try to research it so I get the right one for me ( I hope ) as it seems my life has boiled down to trial and error anymore. I too suffer from bouts of IBS and alternate between constipation and Diarhhea. I used to know my body, what worked and what didn't, and now I don't know anymore. Since my rectocele seems to be the main problem maker of my celes and prolapsed uterus, I get the urge, go to the loo and then nothing. I even do the LoPo as I have stumbled upon that and I think I don't have atrong enough peristalsis with the need also to soften my stool, in the mean time I suffer as I wait. I read and try to plan what to do or not to do and remain frustrated and confused! I am looking at diet and making a list if what to keep and cross off, drink more water which in turn makes me pee more. I have never faced so much difficulty with what is supposed to come natural!

About the Udos oil, I have never heard of that? I will definately look into that as well. Something out there has to work for me! I am taking a stool softener, but wonder if perhaps I need more than one, the bottle recommends one or two for an adult.

Udo's oil sounds like a good thing to get. I am going to look to where to buy it because I want to try it, and magnesium. It looks like Vitamin Shoppe sells it, maybe they have both oil and magnesium. Anyway, I just have to find where there is one around me!

I get both those items from Amazon uk if that is any help! The spray on oil is by Better You and there r different versions ,eg with glucosamine and also a night time one with lavender oil. It is for use on normal healthy skin especially backs and joints, keep away from eyes ! The Udos is not cheap but it us state of the art in my opinion and worth the cost. It was developed by a Canadian doctor called Mr Udo and with it he cured his own health problems even though his doctor's training could not!! I met him once and asked him why he did not promote his brilliant oil more and he told me he was so happy to be healthy he would not introduce stress into his life but he does give talks to those who r interested!

Don't laugh, but since my POP has me thinking about BM's for the first time in my life, I have made a conscious effort to eat an organic apple everyday. I saw on an old thread, just posted today, that someone mentioned that eating an apple about an hour before bed helps with the next morning's BM.

I've always known that apple was a good cleansing, natural fiber fruit and now i'm a daily consumer. Just a thought that I've had, which is now confirmed success by others.

Speaking from experience and learning the hard way, if you venture out near the WF's and happen to have an exceptional specialist there like I do in my town, I would take a list of questions, as well as before you go to the vitamin store. That's just my personal opinion. In my case, I've gotten some mediocre advise from the vitamin stores but always quality info from WF's. If I ask someone at WF's who's not the specialist in that category, they go and find the person. You can even call ahead. I find them very helpful. They seem to enjoy their work there and many of them are there because of their own health issues which makes them very passionate. They'll call the product reps and give you customer feedback. I always have a quality experience with the people at WF's in my town. They are very eager to help by giving answers or finding out for me through other avenues. I learn something every time I go in there.

If it's an hour away then call first and make sure that the person that you need to ask is working that day, for sure. They will also take anything back that you don't like used or unused. I've done it many times. Good luck and please share your findings. They may be helpful to newbies who will want to try magnesium for the first time. - Sierra
