My first POP poop (a.k.a. Small Victories)

Body:

Breakthrough!

Just wanted to share a small celebration with you all - tonight I had the FIRST NORMAL SOLID bowel movement in over 1 MONTH since all my POP symptoms started happening!! *happy dance*

Week over agonizing week, I could just. not. get. anything. through (besides liquid mucous), to the point where I was in the ER thinking I had life-threatening fecal impaction.

But tonight, TONIGHT, after a few weeks of trial and error, and putting into practice all of the tips and tricks I've learned from this forum (posture, breathing, supplements, stretching, diet, mental RELAXATION), put it all together and listened to my body guide me and managed to release WITHOUT STRAINING the most perfect smooth soft and well formed BM.

Have to say, it was a very weird position I ended up with on the toilet seat (a HORIZONTAL position - felt like a Cirque de Soleil acrobat) - nothing at all like I've ever heard described here and so weird but it worked. Also it did NOT involve splinting which I've never been able to master, and not sure that method matched what was happening in my body anyway.

I know it won't be perfect every time (and this last annoying bit is still left in my rectocele, ARGH, need a mini enema bulb to clean it- feels yuck) but I have more faith than ever in the body's ability to heal itself if we give it the TLC, time, care, and attention.

Hope this gives hope to all out there who truly believe their colon/bowels have given up and left the building. Yes I had to double my daily magnesium citrate and yes had to take 2 Dulcolax to get it started and yes 1 Valium to get relaxed but at least now I know the rectal prolapse has not completely obstructed the exit door and I can start to retrain my bowels and encourage more natural BMs without over relying on everything else.

**UPDATE** the subsequent second and third BMs of the evening were of course disappointing - strongly and tiny like popcorn shrimp and then really loose cowpile. I'll take what I can get!

*insert smiling poop emoji here*

So glad to hear that you got some relief BeingHuman! Keep listening to your body and making adjustments. You are on the path of discovering what best works for you and this is a sign that things can get even better. Sometimes just being able to poop feels like a little miracle, doesn't it? Or like winning the lottery!

Dear Being Human,
Congratulations! It is definitely good to know you can function reasonably normally! I've found knowing symptoms can improve, even if they don't all the time, makes such a positive difference, mentally as well as physically. Like a positive cycle. There will inevitably be 'off days' but for myself I'm happy so long as the general direction of progress is positive.
Thanks for sharing,
