Thickening of the

Body:

Thickening of the womb lining up to 16 mm they say it should be 5mm now they want me to have a hysteroscopy and a further bi opsy since the first one was inconclusive. I travel a lot from house to house as a house sitter and I am not in one place long, this causes the NHS in the Uk some problems and obviously has a roll on effect on me. I have to say I am very concerned about the whole issue, I already have a prolapse bladder. The investigation came about because of some bleeding, but this was only really once apart from a slight stain. Any suggestions would be helpful to gain my health back. The concern for me is if they say I need a hysterectomy. Thanks June

Hi May and welcome. This isn't a lot of information to go on, and of course, this is just a community of women and we don't dispense medical advice. How old are you, and where are you with respect to menopause? Unexplained bleeding is always a concern, but hysterectomies are almost never medically warranted, and can have lots of unwanted side effects. So proceed with care and don't be pushed. - Surviving

sorry I am new to the formum and having figured out how to put something on I neglected to say my age. I am 68 yrs old. I wasnt sure about what information to put. Re your statement about hysterectomy, I have looked at the whole woman website and infomationan/videos and it is certainly and eye opener for sure about all the problems they can bring a woman. I have seen info on the net about thinning womb linings and how to address that, but nothing on how to thin a thickened lining. Let me know what info you want on this

Obviously, your age is relevant to this issue. But if you are looking for medical advice, I think your only option would be to book a consult with Christine. Of course we hope that you can keep your uterus, but doctors are all too willing to remove them every chance they get! So you need to be informed and also prepared to get more than one opinion if necessary. I'm in the US so I don't know how difficult that might be in the UK. If this event was worrisome enough to send you to the doctor for testing, you need to follow that process to its logical conclusion, but you needn't be rushed into anything. - Surviving

Yes being in the Uk is certainly a problem when information for the conidtion may be in America and a Consultation might be difficult then unless its on line. Thanks for getting back to me.
