pop is always out

Body:

I have managed to live with the fact that my pop is always hanging out and that is okay as long as I keep Vaseline on my panties. I try to watch my posture and that helps, but I am unable to do the exercises. On occasion, like right now, I get cysts on the pop and there is pain and itching. Eating yogurt helps, lanoline cream helps, but I sometimes feel like I just want to give up.

Most of the time life isn't too bad but I would like to know if there are others out there that have to deal with pop being out all the time. Even when I try to push it up, it doesn't go all the way.

Thanks for all the encouragement over the years.

Hi cinder60,
My pop hangs out all the time, I,m 71 and my pop has improved. My pop gets worst during the days when I have to many BM. I need to rest or sit when to much pressure. Other times it doesn't hang as much so I'm able to accomplished a lot. We just need to be more patient with ourselves.

Hi Cinder - anyone with a profound prolapse needs to work very diligently with posture and WW tools to get that prolapse to where it can stay just at or inside the opening as much of the time as possible. You will never get there just by "trying to watch your posture". You must be in posture all the time, and this requires weeks, months, even years of working at it, until it becomes second nature. What other tools do you use? Lots of firebreathing is an absolutely essential tool for a profound prolapse. I've read your older posts, but I don't get a sense of what your normal WW routine consists of, or even if you are clear on the posture elements. - Surviving

My prolapse gets worse when I am on my feet for hours on end. There is no quick fix and the doctors want to operate by putting a mesh sling inside to hold up the prolapse. This is outrageous and dangerous. WW exercises help to strengthen our muscles. It takes time to learn the posture and, in the meantime, we have to deal with a hanging prolapse. Don't wear anything tight on your abdomen like a girdle. That makes it worse. I have found that the hideaway helps to keep the prolapse from protruding out of the vagina so that you can function when you are away from home.

Have you tried the jiggling and firebreathing on a regular basis? I also have a profound prolapse, and these techniques really help to keep the prolapse inside more.

It is nice to know that there is someone else out there. Sometimes the depression and aloneness are overwhelming. Most of the time I can ignore the pop and have even become accustomed to it being there. It is just that about twice a year I get an infection or something and the red streaks along the lips and the itching is enough to drive me mad. It's too bad that this isn't a subject that can be talked about easily with other people in person. Maybe then we wouldn't feel so alone. I'm almost 65 and wonder if I lost some weight if that would help. Thank you so much for your comment.

Hi cinder,
Have you tried the honey? Christine uses this for the post menopausal vagina and even says it has a great healing affect. That may help take care of some of the dryness, etc. just insert a dab inside your vagina; it should help with some of the problems you are having.

I do sympathise with u and totally understand the need to talk to someone about these really frustrating prolapse symptoms. I am 65 and have been following the advice and grateful for the support of the brilliant women on this site. I often forget about my stage 3prolapse ,even after walking for hours in the mountains and it is all due to Christine's amazing wisdom. The posture and dvd First aid for Prolapse have allowed me to be symptom free for the majority of the time. I know if I get stressed, eat unhealthily or slump around I will suffer symptoms and so it is really worth the effort to know how to jiggle, breath, walk in posture and eat as Christine's book explains. I often wish I could befriend some ladies, especially if they r like me,retired and in the Uk because we do have a lot in common I feel and it does help to talk and empathise and share ideas. I have found the raw honey idea so brilliant and I use it every day and also after swimming. Good luck and I hope u have better days soon. :)

Thanks for the reminder about honey. I haven't tried it, but use a lanoline product that was designed for nursing mothers and it seems to help a lot. I don't believe that the issue is dryness, but the doctor can't figure out what it is. Just periodically I get these red streaks that are painful and itchy. Then as the pop goes in and out there is more pain. If I could even figure out what I do that causes them, I could try not to have them. Seems like every time I celebrate doing well they crop up. Oh well, just part of the program I guess. I'm not as stressed and depressed as I was the beginning of the week and just have to keep reminding myself that I will probably be back to this new normal within a couple of weeks. Thanks for the support. Take care.

Thank you Surviving for these comments....Having a regular WW routine is something I need to create.

I am in a similar boat as you Cinder60. I'm 56 and unfortunately had a vaginal hysterectomy about 20 years ago which has left me now with a constant bulge (rectocele mainly). Sadly, with no uterus to hold my pelvic organs in place, nothing I do, even staying in posture all the time, makes much difference. When I'm standing, my prolapse is bulging out to some degree. How much depends on how much fluid and poo is in my lower bowel. After every visit to the bathroom, I bend over to get things to slide back up and even use a finger or two inserted into my vagina to push things forward even more, but upon standing back up, things eventually slide back down. I also wear a V2 support garment all the time except when I'm sleeping at night. Without this, I have a constant feeling of heaviness and seem to feel like I always have to pee. I am very careful not to lift, do any exercises that could make things worse (I only walk and bike now). I sit as often as I can or need (even when I shower). Luckily my job allows me to sit most of the time. I also take time to lay down sometime during the day to "take the gravity pull" off of my pelvic organs. If you have your uterus, then there is hope for things to improve for you. Commit yourself to the posture and other helps suggested here. POP forces us women to embrace a new normal. I have good days and bad days physically and emotionally because of my situation, but I try to remind myself that I don't have a fatal disease and things could be worse so I should be grateful. I sometimes get irritation from my bulge making constant contact with the lining of my panty. The honey does help. I wish you all the best as you find your way and pray that you will experience improvement.

Hi Cecilly - Thanks for checking in, this is a very helpful post, and reminder to all of us that hysterectomy no doubt causes more prolapse than it relieves! I believe that Cinder60 still has her uterus, so she has a few more options for trying to train the old girl to stay inside. Cinder, do use the honey to see if it helps with the irritation. Some women here with profound uterine prolapse have described how they actually push the uterus up over the pubic bones before firebreathing. Firebreathing, jiggling and really diligent attention to posture and movement throughout the day can, over time, keep the uterus out of your way for longer and longer periods. it's never too late to step up your efforts and see improvement. - Surviving
