Urethra advice/

Body:

I had a Urine sample examined and there was what they called a trace of blood in it. I then had an Ultra sound on Bladder & Kidneys. The result came back, nothing significant but my family Dr. asked if I would be willing to see a Urologist. I said yes as I thought it might be a good idea to talk to someone on this matter. Today I have been given an appointment to have a catheter with a small camera attached to look into my Bladder, I thought the appointment would be just for a consultation. Has anyone had this done and if so did it do any damage at all. I am 80 years old.

I have never had this done. If you have already had your appointment, I hope it went well.

Keep checking into the WW Forums .... I am finding that there is a lot to learn. And much comfort, too.

Thank you for your reply. I haven't had it done and don't think I will. I was hoping someone had perhaps had the experience and would tell me how it went but it doesn't look like anyone has.

Do you know why this procedure was recommended? You should try to get some understanding of what they are looking for to help make your decision, particularly since the ultrasound was negative. - Surviving

Hi, Surviving 60.
Thank you for answering my question. I cancelled my appointment this morning as I just didn't feel I wanted to have that procedure done, I will take another Urine sample to my Dr. again and ask to have it tested. Apparently that procedure is what they do if there is blood in the Urine but as they said only a trace I think I will go the Urine sample route first.
