Wearing an SI belt

The video mentions wearing an SI belt. Can someone elaborate on this? I saw Christine has mentioned somewhere on this forum that she wrote a blog post about it, but I can't find it. What kind of belt is best for vaginal prolapse and what type? Doesn't it push your stomach in, which I thought wasn't a good thing?

A supporter is only really useful with the more profound prolapses. You would be wasting your money if you have the garden variety prolapse that most women experience.
I believe you are still really early in the work? Keep working on pulling into a nice strong posture, because over time this will help you feel less symptomatic. Little tricks we like to use in the meantime are jiggling and firebreathing, getting down on knees and forearms and doing some nice deep breathing belly rolls, daily exercises, and whole woman walking help to build your body into this posture.
It does take some time and patience, but it is a time of self discovery that really can't be replaced.

Thanks for the information Aging gracefully....and yes, I'm in early stages. There is only quick mention of the fire breathing in the video. Is there a more detailed explanation on the technique somewhere else., or did I miss it in the video? I rewound several times looking for it.

The First Aid for Prolapse, First Wheel, and Third Wheel Yoga DVDs all have excellent explanations of firebreathing.

Sorry to be such a bug, but where do I find those videos? I purchased the Whole Woman Solution to Pelvic Prolapse video series. I can't see what you are referring to in there, or in the store tab above.

This is Christine's very first DVD and has a lot of very good information as well as the exercise. It's a great investment.

Felicity, Christine demonstrates firebreathing in Module 4 of the Whole Woman Solution on-line series that you have. It starts about 24 minutes into the module, interspersed with the jumping and belly toss. I agree, it is not explained as thoroughly here as in some of the other products, but you can learn it from here. - Surviving

Felicity, I find that the array of products available in the WW Store has become quite varied and downright confusing for a newbie, as compared to the basic book/FAFP DVD that were available years ago when I first came here. The WW Solution (streaming only) product that you have is a good one. Great background information; the exercise routine is a nice mix of the dance, stretching and yoga moves, and it's the only place where she teaches the jumping and belly toss. I'm disappointed that it glosses rather quickly over the firebreathing, which I consider to be one of the most basic and vital tools that we have been given. I remember when I was starting out, trying to learn this from the book alone (where it is quite well explained in words and pictures) - wanting to see it performed, which was my motivation for my second purchase, the First Aid for Prolapse DVD. No one who gets seriously into the Whole Woman work is going to stop at one product; my personal favorite for learning firebreathing is the Dictionary of Movements contained in the original First Aid for Prolapse, which, as AG pointed out, is available for streaming.

To get back to your original question, a sacroiliac belt is something that fits under the belly for support; to me it looks like something a pregnant woman might wear. I admit I can't recall off-hand in what context Christine mentions this, but as you pointed out, you need to avoid compression on the belly; so for whatever reason one might wear such a belt, it needs to be worn very low.

Oops, I assumed the SI belt was another support garment. My mom actually used to wear one of those for lower back pain.
When I was having my worst back pain, it was the sacroiliac joint that was usually the culprit. I thought it was my hip that was going out, but the Chiropractor had to teach me a little anatomy to understand what was actually happening in my lower back, but with some massaging of the joint and adjustments, it would get better. When mine flared up, it put me flat on the floor and out of work for a week, so it did get pretty bad at times.

The good news though is that since I have been doing the whole woman work, it hasn't been a problem for me anymore; a little nagging off and on, but a nice round of whole woman exercises always eases that discomfort.

Just another benefit of the whole body concept of whole woman.

p.s. Christine's Hips work is also a great place to look for those experiencing hip or back pain. I did just fine with Christine's other work for help in re-aligning my body, but you should read some of Aussie Soul Sister's testimonies and how the hips exercises helped her. Amazing stuff!
