Frequent Urination

Frequent Urination

Does having prolapse cause frequent urination? I'm not having a UTI but thought it might be from overactive bladder. I believe I have a cystocele and maybe a rectocele too. Not sure. The last time I saw a gyn (3 or 4 yrs ago), was told it was a cystocele. But was wondering whether the actual prolapse itself could cause it?

Thanks to all responders,

Hi Sevilla - I removed your duplicate post, which was added to the end of a pessary discussion, since you have also started your own topic here. Do you have a large volume of urine when you go, or do you just get the urge a lot? - Surviving

Hi Surviving,

Actually I just noticed frequency yesterday when I was out walking. The volume was normal amounts. I drank chocolate milk and coffee for breakfast, but I do that every day. If it continues I may get my doc to do labwork.

Hi sevilla,
I put frequent urination in the search box and found several threads that were helpful. Prolapse can cause this sensation as the urethra also descends and may rub or irritate causing the feeling of having to urinate. So, the whole woman work is very important to help in pulling the bladder, as well as the urethra, inside more to help lessen or eliminate this sensation.
Also, make sure you are completely emptying your bladder by tipping forward on the toilet or going on all fours in the shower.
You can also look to your diet, lowering caffeine intake as well as going to an anti inflammatory diet.

Thanks AG. I am aware of the importance of properly voiding and already use the tipping forward practice on the toilet. I know it's not a UTI as I'm not having any burning. I'll see how it goes over the next couple of days or so.

Thanks.

If you have been managing your prolapse for going on 4 years now, and this frequent urination only came along yesterday, I suspect it is probably not prolapse-related, more likely to do with stress or something you've been eating that has caused irritation. Hard to say. - Surviving
