A Newb Needs Help :)

Body:

Hello, friends! I'm glad to have found this place. I'm looking for some creative insight.

I had my third and final baby two years ago. After that time, my GYN said that I had a mild bladder prolapse. I was uncomfortable for a few weeks, but over time, the symptoms went away.

Last year, I had a week or so when I felt a lot of bulging and pressure. This was right after starting my period. I used monistat, hoping it was merely a yeast infection, and it went away! I haven't had many issues since.

Fast forward to this month. After my period was over, I noticed I had bulging and pressure! I checked things out with a hand mirror and noticed that my urethra was surrounded by a bulge. I can feel this bulging sensation with everything I do. Lying down makes very little difference.

I went to see a new OB/GYN, since we moved recently, and she said my prolapse is not very bad at all, and doesn't know why I'm feeling a bulge. She DID say that sometimes, prolapse is more uncomfortable and noticeable when you're standing up, and because I had to lay down for my exam, she may not be able to see it very well. She gave me some estrogen cream and sent me on my merry way.

I'm a bit discouraged. Perhaps there's some other explanation for this discomfort? Or maybe it IS prolapse and there's something else I can do about it on my own? I would love to hear abour your experiences and get some recommendations for how to get some relief. THANKS!

Hi Mia,
No, it is not unusual at all to feel pressure or to be more symptomatic during our periods. It sounds as though you may have a very mild prolapse, so now would be a great time to get involved with the whole woman work, because prolapse can worsen with age if left unattended.
Getting back to our natural posture is the key here which is the most positive body change you can do for yourself.
So, have a good look around this site, starting with the tool bar above, and come back here with any further questions.

And lose the estrogen cream. These are dangerous substances which have no place in prolapse management or any other aspect of female health. - Surviving
