Good days and bad days

Body:

My first posting, although I've been lurking for sometime, fascinated by the many stories and honesty. I've been reading about posture, which I'd always thought played a major part in the health of my body. I didn't realize just how important until I was diagnosed with a cystocele. The attention to posture, along with the exercises have been most helpful, to the point that I began to feel totally different - that this was not something that would cause me to give up the activities that I loved. I'm a newbie. And today was a setback day. Feeling a little defeated and out of control. It's nice to have this place to come to and read similar stories - before this I felt like I was depending on medical professionals who had limited options for my care. Thanks for providing a safe place for the good and bad days...

Hi herbgypsy and welcome. Rest assured you will be fine. There will always be days that are not your best - don't expect that to go away. This is management.....not a quick fix. You are just starting out and every little thing you notice is going to seem very significant to you. The organs are always moving around, which is good. That's why we are able to affect our symptoms with posture and good habits. When you come back from a bad day, to a better day, you will gradually start to lose your fear, and those more symptomatic times will not throw you off. More and more, you will draw connections between your symptoms, and something that you did or didn't do. We can't always be in perfect posture. But we don't have to give up anything! When you're feeling crummy, get down on all fours and just relax and let your organs hang gently in your belly. Give thanks that you got away from the clutches of medical management of prolapse. This work is empowering and you will have many lightbulb moments along the way. - Surviving

I just wanted to say welcome and I can totally relate to your post. It is best to forget the negative days and crack on the next day or when u feel on top of things again.I am so glad I am a whole woman and will not be going back to the doctor re Pop,everything I need is on this site . Christine's book and the dvd First aid for Prolapse re amongst my most precious things ! Although the posture is def what this is all about it is great to revisit the book with more understanding each time and also to do the exercises on the video which I find empowering and invigorating. I was doing so well until I dislocated my arm and spent far too much time being inactive and also not eating as healthily as I used too.It has been a long haul back to the positivity I had achieved but I am getting there.Forget the bad days ,be kind to yourself and crack on! Good luck!

I've found that I feel better standing up than sitting - perhaps I haven't found a comfortable seated position. Most chairs are too soft, or have the wrong angle to keep me upright. I've thought about switching out chairs for benches or stools. Any suggestions?

Lots of discussions about chairs and sitting on the forum....put some search terms in the box up above to find some. Here's one:
