Vitamin C

Body:

Have just started high dose vitamin c as have researched it can help collagen production which can help ligament support. Going to try for a month and see if improvement. Anyone tried vitamin c as part of their management for prolapse?

I'm all in favor of good food and supplements for virtually every aspect of our health. I take many myself. But it's important to keep in mind that prolapse is primarily an orthopedic condition, and that any additional measures we take to manage prolapse are secondary to the Whole Woman postural work. - Surviving

Surviving 60, agreed!!
Nutty girl, I have been doing 3000mg/day for several months. On days I miss it, I notice a difference in my prolapse for sure. (I feel it much more on days without vitamin C)
Good luck!

As I've described in many of the WW programs, the pelvic organs are really just passengers, wrapped in sacs of connective tissue. That connective tissue (fascia) thickens and attaches to bone (inappropriately called "ligaments"). We use our muscles to move our bones and literally drag the organs in one direction or the other.

Fascia is very subject to inflammation, and therefore prolapse does have an inflammatory aspect. A dozen years ago (and it's still going on to some extent), doctors were routinely telling women with prolapse that they have a "connective tissue disorder", which of course makes them feel helpless and more inclined toward the surgical "solution."

I prefer to get adequate vitamin C from my diet.

Well, I would agree with Christine and I have no personal experience with supplementing C. Plenty of good dietary sources for that. - Surviving
