singing

Body:

I am a part of a choir and we meet two hours avery week to rehearse, then sometimes we hold concerts, and besides the standing up for two hours on end, during which I try to maintain the posture, I wonder if the way of breathing (enflating the belly, basically) is bad or good. Isnt' there too much intraabdomianl pressure? And if so, How can I manage?
Thanks.

In normal anatomy the more intraabdominal pressure the better, as it is just pressing down harder on an already flattened upper vagina. This work is very new, Ornella, and I

Hi fraele70

As I understand it, breathing for singing is more about consciously using the diaphragm to breath, because you can take breath in more quickly and fully with the diaphragm than with the interstitial muscles (between the ribs), so you can keep your shoulders relaxed at all times, and also your throat. So it is not really about inflating the belly, which is impossible to do anyway. The air enters the chest cavity, not the abdominal cavity. ;-)

Enjoy your singing. I haven't done any serious singing since prolapse hit, but for me, singing in Church and in the shower is fine for me with correct posture.

Cheers
