When I first “cracked the code” on stabilizing and reversing prolapse, and wrote and published Saving the Whole Woman, I set up this forum. While I had finally gotten my own severe uterine prolapse under control with the knowledge I had gained, I didn’t actually know if I could teach other women to do for themselves what I had done for my condition.
So I just started teaching women on this forum. Within weeks, the women started writing back, “It’s working! I can feel the difference!”
From that moment on, the forum became the hub of the Whole Woman Community. Unfortunately, spammers also discovered the forum, along with the thousands of women we had been helping. The level of spamming became so intolerable and time-consuming, we regretfully took the forum down.
Technology never sleeps, however, and we have better tools today for controlling spam than we did just a few years ago. So I am very excited and pleased to bring the forum back online.

Remember, the forum is here for two reasons. First, to get your questions answered by other women who have knowledge and experience to share. Second, it is the place to share your results and successes. Your stories will help other women learn that Whole Woman is what they need.
Whether you’re an old friend or a new acquaintance, welcome! The Whole Woman forum is a place where you can make a difference in your own life and the lives of thousands of women around the world!
Best wishes,

Although we’ve had several requests, I didn’t receive one response to my call for photos. I think it’s meaningful that women are sensitive to showing their “bottom” in this way. I know I wouldn’t want to, even anonymously. There’s a certain amount of dignity to maintain (I have hardly a shred since I don’t have the luxury of anonymity) and maybe we should leave the bulk of the photos to medical books. I do have some very good episiotomy scar pics that I will post as soon as I get permission from the publisher.

You're the only brave soul, Anne-helen.
There's no way for members to post a photo on the forum. We would have to create a special place for it and without a well-designed gallery, it probably wouldn't be that helpful. But I thank you for offering.

Hi too would like to see it. I have a cystocele that bothers me the most. It would be nice to compare. I have no problem showing mine either. Just never took pics of it yet.

Maybe I missed the "all call" but I would be happy to be a MODEL:)

maybe squatting- in the morning???
can we revisit this?

gallery and study
Sure…I always thought it would completely infuriate the surgeons whose sites are filled with basically fraudulent depictions of prolapse, i.e. calling a huge post-hysterectomy vault balloon ‘4th degree pelvic organ prolapse’. Creating a REAL gallery of prolapse would lower a lot of women’s blood pressure.
You know…I’ve been thinking how greatly needed an old episiotomy scar study is. All that would be required would be to compare photos of (1) women who have never given birth (2) women who gave birth with no trauma and no cuts and (3) post-episiotomy women. We could create a questionnaire asking about symptoms to see where the correlations are. It’s really what is needed to get that practice stopped and who better to conduct it than Whole Woman? What do you think?

episiotomy study
I think its a great idea, christine. are you up for it? sounds like on of those undertakings that turns out bigger than you think it will be.
and wondering if a fourth group might be useful too....women who tear naturally rather then get cut. I only suggest it because you so often hear that an epi was necessary to prevent a tear, as if a tear is a worse case scenario than a surgical cut.

study
I’m totally on board for organizing and facilitating the study. Buying web traffic is terribly expensive and not remotely an option right now, but we have a large list at this point that we could mail to. Hopefully women would respond. We would need to be able to verify that the responses were authentic, which would be easier to do with a known customer base. I can't imagine other sites, such as midwifery sites, wouldn't help us. I would just have to design the study and keep track of the data. I think I could do it if we set up an entirely different site (we could link from this site) where all the info could be managed from.

just to stay organized...
we have an O.K. to revisit the pictures of prolapse photos idea- and we have a fantastic idea for a study.
As to the study- when it gets going I will share it with my mommy group- there are a ton of women. maybe not a ton- but 40 or so-

Pic hosting
You could have hosting on a photobucket site OR a xanga site and just make all the pics private (This is easy to do) and link them to wherever you want them at - Xanga gives you like 100 megs i think

Great Idea
I think a questionaire with all the details is a great idea. I think it would be very helpful to see actual pictures to help us newcomers understand what we are looking at. Sign me up!

great!
Xanga might be the best way to go, Sue...we feel it should be private, but have scratched our heads how to make it so.
Affirmative on the tears, g-mom...it needs to be a comprehensive study to hopefully shed light on best birthing practices.

Late to the party
I just joined up, but in the name of science and peace of mind for others, I would be willing to send a pic. I can't tell you how many hours I searched online to find something that even remotely resembled my situation. I needed to know what was normal and what was me.
just my 2 cents :)

photo exchange - don't forget the gallery!
Please send your photos to [email protected] along with any other pertinent information such as:
1. position when photo was taken
2. bearing down or not
3. diagnosis
4. I WILL NEED YOUR EXPRESSED PERMISSION TO POST THE PHOTOS ANONYMOUSLY ON THE WEB. We will format them and in no way will anyone have access to your name.
We've reviewed several photo sites to link to and will have something up within a few days, providing we have enough material.

prolapse photos
I've only received one set of pictures so far. We're building the gallery here on this site, but it doesn't make much sense to put up one or two images...so will those who pledged please follow through?
And don't forget to include the requested information as to position, etc., as it can be difficult to understand what we're looking at if we don't have that info. Thx.

photo details
Well...I think it would help if they were all somewhat standardized. We already have one in lithotomy and frankly, a standing shot would be pretty hard to do, even if that might give us the best "picture" of things.
I do think one shot relaxed and one shot bearing down would be very helpful.
Also a diagnosis if you have one.

Thanks for the link, Babs…the image gallery at pelvicfloor.com has improved a lot in the couple of years since I last had a look at it when he had posted primarily dramatic photos of large vault prolapses. I think this should settle the issue of starting a photo gallery here, so let’s once and for all agree to not send pics. Anne-helen, I can’t exactly send yours back, but will delete it from my files. I do have access to some very good (bad!) photos of episiotomy scars which I will post (I know I’ve already promised this…too much to do!!) as soon as I gain permission from the publisher.
