Exercise

Body:

I've recently been diagnosed with uterine prolapse. I am an active individual...have played tennis most of my life, walk and workout. I took a month off from exercise while waiting for my pessary. I've had the pessary for about 2 weeks and it seems to be working well. I will start biofeedback in a couple of weeks and have ordered vaginal weights. I have never done yoga or pilates but am very interested in both and would be interested to hear others experiences. I feel that these would benefit the core muscle groups and help to strengthen the pelvic floor. I am very pro active regarding health issues and strongly believe in prevention. I am also a registered nurse with a strong interest in women's health.

There are lots of posts on here about yoga & pilates: postures that are healthful & those that should be avoided. Search in the archives for Christines wisdom. I think pilates has a LOT OF MOVES THAT COMPROMISE THE PELVIC ORGANS so should be done with caution. Also, search the archives about pessary use that your dr may not have told you. Like taking it out at night. Some women believe pessary use led to rectocele development & have chosen seasponges instead -- see homepage resources about sponge,

blessings to you on your journey to health..

I am sure it was my wearing a pessary for six months that led to my rectocele. Taking it out and putting it in with already compromised tissues did the damage. Wish I had known that sooner. Oh well - hindsight is always 20/20. Incorporating body posture here will allow you to go without a pessary. If standing properly, try to gently push on your 'celes. Can't feel them heading south, right? You are doing everything the way you should and there shouldn't be any problems.

I have had universal prolapses for five years and today I am much better than five years ago. Even one year ago. It is definitely worth it to adopt "the posture."

For me it is painful pulling the pessary out. But when I am scheduled
to do heavy lifting I wear it. Otherwise things seem much worse. One of the ladies on here, mentioned it is like people who have to wear a knee brace or a back brace, need the extra support. That is definetly what the pessary is to me. I try not to wear it very often though. For regular day stuff the posture is definitely better than the pessary. I agree I think it also causes harm. Diana
