Body:

I'm new to all of this and haven't received the book yet. I think I have an understanding of the posture you recommend (I'm a physical therapist so postural descriptions are usually easy for me to understand and implement) but I still have some questions. First, do you maintain this position all day long? my upper back has begun to ache a bit, maybe I'm just not doing it right or maybe I'm just plain old weak and out of shape. I'm also not sure how to maintain this position to fully empty my bladder. I've seen in magazines ads for a sqatting platform that fits over the toilet, but I'm not sure I'm ready to outfit my bathroom with one of those.
on a happy note, I'm feeling more in control of my life these days. God bless you, Christine, for your empowering, life-affirming work.

I too had a backache when I first started using the posture. It does get better with a little time. As for the toilet box, I have found a plastic trash can which we keep in our bathroom works just right. Thought you might want to try something like this. It is not as high as the box, but I think it is just right for me and it doesn't look out of place in the room or take up space other than its own. This is not a garbage can but a trash can. Hope this helps.

Yes, try to pull yourself into the standing posture everytime you

Jane,

After years of scratching my head wondering how we can outfit our modern bathrooms with a squatting device that doesn't look like a jungle gym, it never occured to me that a plastic bucket would be an easy, clean, and discrete solution to the problem. This is why we need each other.

Thank you!

Christine

p.s. granolamom - the bladder-emptying position that Mare discovered for use on standard toilets is to move your feet behind you and lower your knees to the ground, which pushes the bladder up and forward into better anatomical alignment.

thank you for all of the responses. I figured out the squatting over toilet position this morning...my toddler who accompanies me everywhere thought it was most amusing and he tried to do it too! So I got a laugh out of it also : )
My upper back is alot less sore this am, so maybe I'm loosening up. I know I have a tendency to keep my shoulders up by my ears, so this posture is really good for me. My tmj is feeling better too. Thanks, Christine for the link to the newsletter. The photo of the model is a good way to double check that I'm standing correctly.
I know its too soon (3 or 4 days) but how soon can I hope to start seeing some change?

still waiting for the book, I hope it gets here by Monday

Complicated question! Some young women

Christine - I agree with you that this prolapse can make us stronger and healthier in more ways than one. I have had many 'minor' health crises this year and kept on neglecting my overall health, physical and emotional. this prolapse was the last straw and I am determined to set things right all around. I guess if this is what it takes, its not the worst thing in the world. It also didn't occur to me to begin setting my dd up for a stronger pelvis now, but you are right again. its never too early to keep our bodies and spirits strong.
thank you again for your replies. I am learning so much from this forum.

Granolamom, I had a hard time with the posture at first from years of tucking my hind end under but now it's just natural for me to stand, walk that way. It really makes a big difference in the prolapse. It's the natural way and the way little children stand. Look at a child and you will see the posture. I got my cystocele grade 3 in March of 2004 and found Christine the same month and I am so grateful that I found her. Her book and her video are very informative and are "must haves" in my opinion. What would we do and where would we be without her?
I'm 75 years old and was really feeling sorry for myself until I found out that so many young women have the same problem and worse and I'm grateful that my OB/GYN told me all the complications that could happen with surgery which caused me to seek out more information on the internet.
Stay the course. It's hard to re-train your posture but you can do it because I did.

Oh Marie

thank you, Marie for sharing your experience. All this support really helps
