Falling down on the sidewalk and prolapse

Body:

I am reading the book and watching the DVD and shopping at the health food store and trying to digest all this new information.
I am in a much better state that last week, when I was diagnosed and given surgery as my best option, and having the doctor agree to try a pessery first, after I balked at setting a surgery date.
I am still reacting to the emotions , but since I have had to discard what the 'Expert" doctor recommended, I am wondering about other issues I still feel confused about that may or may not be important. i have decided to give myself a week to just focus and learn what my options are.
I fell down , tripping over a city sidewalk. I banged myself up pretty well, scrapped kness and landed on my right wrist. Days later, the words 'prolapsed uterus" just popped in my head while I was walking to work
I went to my accupuncturist after six weeks when my right wrist was still swollen and sore . I confided my mysterious experience with the phrase "prolapsed uterus," and he suggested I see a doctor for a diagnoses. I am curious if anyone feels their prolapse is caused or made noticable by falling down?
Should I return to the accupuncturist?
My wrist is still mending, but trying the exercise poses on all fours has kind of stressed that joint.
Which exercises should I focus on since I am still recovering from the wrist injury?
I am planning on going on a nice uphill walk and thanks so much for returning hope that I won;t have to spend the rest of my days gingerly avoiding further prolapse!

Hi Dhamma-K,
I can't comment on if the fall would cause a prolapse, though as Christine's work centres around posture, I would wonder if a fall might alter your posture causing the organs to shift? just a thought...

but, i would definately say that accupuncture can help. there are points for prolapses to do with the spleen and lifting. i found it really useful for the symptoms, in my case irritable bladder and backache.
i would also imagine it could help with your wrist.

i'm sure others will have thoughts on the rest, but do take care of yourself and look after all of you! if excercises are hurting your wrist i'd imagine they can wait...there is so much else to do to support your body and its healing on all levels.

take care
kiki

Hello Dhamma-K,

I actually see this in the opposite context. If the uterus in its normal position is located at the exact center of the female body, perhaps your prolapsed uterus set you off balance and caused the fall! My daughter played the rough-n-tumble game of rugby in college and I am reminded of those girls hitting the ground hard – sometimes several times in a single game. I suppose it’s possible a bad jar could cause uterine displacement, but generally speaking the body’s connections are very strong.

As for the dvd exercises…do only the ones that don’t place stress on your wrist. Hope you are feeling better by now!

Christine

Dear Christine,
thank you so much for your concern. I am feeling more confident that I will be able to recover, cope, tolerate my discomfort and be able to continue my active happy life. I am much better emotionally and mentally, and am feeling this is also an oportunity to tune in spiritually . Maybe my bad fall was a needed wake-up call to return to a less rushed and healthier life style.
I am a self -employed artist ,and raised two born at home and home-schooled kids till high school and college, I am just at a point in my life where my being home wasn't necesary for someone else's needs. .. Now I get to recover at home, and take care of myself!
i have a lot to be grateful for, a nice home, a good neighborhood for walking up hill sideways, ans a loving husband. who will be happy to learn of how he can help me recover! I am also very grateful for your courage and wisdom in sharing this alternative. I have faced a few of my unresolved issues about my sexuality and self esteem by considering other women's posts and reading your book. i notice myself having to push through my insecurity to ask questions and to not feel I am "Taking up too much " of other people's time to read and respond to my questions on this website..
Once i feel a little less vulnerable and more 'on the mend" I am planning a reunion with my woman's circle from my nursing babies' days, and host a POP party with my soul sisters and teenage daughters!
till then I plan on scheduling an apointment with the acupuncturist who has helped me with TMJ and herbal treatments for menapause, and continuing following your advice regarding exercice, posture and diet changes.. i will tell him about your site, as he is very open to self- healing,
thankfully,
Dhamma-K

I am trying to get a routine with the exercises ,walking and diet changes. I have not gotten very comfortable with the ballet exercises in the book, and am more able to follow the directions on the DVD. The verbal instructions are easier for me to follow than to look at the illustrations. I noticed a post about a tutorial online with the ballet exercises?
Is this possible? Also ,which exercises are more important or should I plan on doing both the exercises demonstrated on the DVD and the ballet exercises in the book daily ?
Thanks!
Dhamma-k

Hi D,

The whole idea is to get the body used to holding itself in this new way. The exercises are there to reinforce this framework of pushing the organs forward and keeping them there with the posture throughout the day. I would say make up your own routine with the exercises you like from both the book and dvd. It's helpful to write them on a large sheet of paper and post on a nearby wall so you can memorize them.

Yes, part of our vision for the new whole woman site is to bring women into my studio via video. We are hoping to "open the doors" by March.

:-) Christine

Hi Dhammak

I've finished training as an acupcunturist this year and remember treating a chef who had wrist problems (from all the lifiting pot's and pains, that kind of overuse) during school. Acupcunture was very sucessfull for her. I would suggest you also make sure to keep you're wrist warm as it's prone to be exacerbated by wind, cold, damp condition;s what tcm call's "entering" the body. (You know like the cold stiff feeling people often get in their bones in the change of season/ or particualrily damp day).

Best wishes
