How come sometimes i see the lump but don't feel the sensation...?

Body:

I still don't know what kind of prolapse i have. I had an episiotomy repair 3 months ago almost and have pain in my perineum and inside vagina still. I tried to do the self exam but i can't even get half of one finger inserted inside. Everything seems so tight and blocked and there was pain trying. I have my app't with m OB on the 18th so hopefully i will have a better idea about what's happening with me soon. She is a new OB that i found that i like better than the one who did the surgery. But it seem yesterday when i was trying the self exam that the lump was in the back of the vagina, not the front like i had thought. So i'm thinking maybe it's a rectocele...or could be more than one prolapse. I was wondering why sometimes i will see the lump near or at the entrance but i do not feel the heavy sensation but other times i will feel the heavy sensation and tampon insterted wrong feeling but lump is not at the entrance. Does this happen to other people?

hi love2boys

when you try to do the self exam, are you lying down? because that sometimes allows everything to slide back to where it should be. I'd recommend trying that first, and then again in standing (when prolapse is probably at its worst) and compare.

when you get that 'half of one finger' inside, and its blocked, can you move the whatever that is blocking it around? usually prolapsed organs are still pretty mobile, which is why symptoms are so variable from day to day.

I'm worried that your vaginal tightening (or whatever they did to you) might be causing you some of this trouble.

a lump at the back wall is likely a rectocele. sometimes one develops shortly after the first. very common to have more than one type of prolapse, unfortunately.
I personally find that I feel the heavy sensation most often right before my period or if my bowels or bladder are full. I think its when other things are taking up space that my symptoms are most pronounced. for some reason my symptoms are not always related to the degree of prolapse, so I judge my days as 'good' or 'bad' based on symptoms and have tried not to bother myself with the position/size of the bulge.

When i tried the self exam i was standing up in the position it said to be in. I am worried too that whatever they did to me during the surgery made it tighter inside. I also felt a little bump on the right side...not sure if it's scar tissue or what.
I am scared to be examined on the 18th because i am still having pain down there but at the same time i want to know what the lump is and what kind of prolapse and how severe or not severe it is.
It is weird cause when i have a full bladder or bowel, it doesn't necessarily make me feel that heavy sensation...actually i don't think i feel it then. It just comes and goes...like maybe walking for a long time or washing the baby bottles. Sometimes i will even feel it for less than a minute and the feeling is gone.
But yah i should try laying down and exam to see if it's still blocked. It was painful when i tried so i stopped. Hopefully i will get some answers at my app't.

love2boys, take it slowly, but continue trying to figure this all out. it is important for you to learn the new anatomy down there, your new normal. because this work is largely about using what you have to correct or compensate for what isn't any longer 'normal' (though I hate that word).
maybe soak in a hot bath for a bit and then try to poke around (gently!) and see what you find.
