Alemama

Body:

I haven't been on this site for months. I have had a few bads days & tons of questions spinning in my head. I am now close to 6 mos PP & desperately desire to get back into some shape other than the one I am in now. I have been working on the posture & it seems to help a ton when I am on my feet a lot. Of course it's still new for me & I have to constantly remind myself to correct it. It wears me out too. Of course I remember reading that it has that effect in the begining. ANYWAY....
I am interested in Zumba and came here to see what your thoughts & feelings are. I skimmed a few posts, but did not see an update to Alemama's post on her starting weight lifting & Zumba......

Alemama or others doing Zumba, what are your feelings? Good? Bad?

The Zumba didn't aggravate my prolapse- but I'm not much for group exercise. I started running instead. It was better for my head :)
The weight lifting didn't bother my prolapse either.
Do you have the DVD? It's good for getting in shape. oh and walking. I walked all the time at that phase. My baby's all like a nice long stroll. This last time I had 2 bike riders to push me to walk faster- and finally start running so they didn't have to circle back all the time.
It takes me forever to feel like I am back in shape. Like at least 15 months.
But it feels fast when I look back at it.
Hope you experience the same phenomenon.

Just remember that most dairy foods are sweet. I would go cold turkey on any sugars and refined carbs I can find. Once you get rid of them you don't crave them as much. I would keep plain yoghurt and cheese if you like dairy, but cut them out if you still crave bad foods. if you must have sugars go for low Glycaemic Index foods to limit the spikes and troughs in blood sugar.

In my opinion, all dairy (or most) should be fermented for human consumption. Lactose (sugar) is then converted to lactic acid, making yogurt extremely beneficial, sour, and delicious.

Thank you for your answer. I'm so shocked that you are running. I feel so scared to move that just thinking about running seems impossible w/this. I honestly am so freaked out about even trying Zumba. You are AMAZING!! I hope I can find some inner strength to just do it.
