Ehlers Danlos syndrome with relation to prolapse

I was visiting with a friend who is an OB/GYN lamenting my symptomatic rectocele and belief that I have uterine and bladder prolapse as well when she asked if I'd ever been tested for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I'd never heard of it so she took my hand and bent my fingers back, pushed my thumb down to my forearm. Then she had me extend my arms and bend my knees back. All of my joints are hypermobile. I've known this since I was a child. I always thought it cool that I could pull my leg up and tuck my foot onto my waist and then hop on the other foot.

Hello again after a lengthy break

I was around back in december and january, lamenting my prolapses and asking any number of questions. Since then i went travelling round the world with my husband and toddler (which didn't seem to make my POP much worse, surprisingly) and perforce cured me of my checkorama, thank god! I honestly can't remember when I last got the mirror out and contorted! And I'm no longer walking around rummaging in my pants like an adolescent boy! I honestly thought in my darkest days that I'd never be able to think about anything else again, but I guess we women are made of tough stuff.

How to order the products from UK

Hi Christine et al,

Can't find a way to send you an email query. Don't want to phone international from UK because can't work out the time thing!

Great site and forums. A good find for someone who resists medical intervention with a passion!
Thanks,
cousinann

healing tears

not sure where this best fits...but
i've had these annoying tears on my perineum lately that aren't healing as fast as i would like as they keep tearing when i do something like get into the car. argh!
i remembered essential oils that were recommended post birth to help with my tear that wasn't healing, and voila! after two days, they are tons better.
so i wanted to share, in case anyone had any post birht tears in the future, or knows someone who does...

magnesium

Hi all,
quick question
I started taking magnesium and it is helping soo much with the afternoon constipation issue.
i'm taking 100mg of magnesium citrate am and pm.

so, can you take it day after day indefinately? or do i need to do few weeks on, few weeks off? what is the deal with it?
does your body become dependent on it?

magnesium wisdom please!!!

Running

I've been doing so well -- POP-wise -- that I ventured out on a run, well, actually a couple of runs. Nothing major. Two short thirty minute runs on consecutive days. After the first day, I did not notice anything. After the second day, things felt diffferent, but when I went feeling down there it didn't. That is a bit confusing -- I felt like things were bulging, but did not actually feel things bulging. Is that any clearer?

Exercise while sitting?

As I was in the car running errands today it dawned on me that I spend a lot of my life sitting... Sitting at my desk at work, sitting in the car while driving... You get the picture? I was wondering if there is any kind of muscle exercise we can do when we can't get to the work out room! I am 62 and work full time.. Finding 30 minutes to exercise is difficult, but I am going to do better. Still and all..... I had to waste time whilst sitting when I could be doing something to help my prolapse. Please help. Thanks, meribelle

New at WW

I'm new here and newly diagnosed with bladder prolapse. I've lived with rectocele since the birth of my first son 33 years ago (4th degree tear thanks to an episiotomy I believe). I had no idea what it was until I read about it on this site. I've talked to doctors about the problem with BMs, but because it wasn't obvious on an exam they didn't seem concerned. I'm relieved to know that I'm at least in good company here! My mother has the same problem, as does my daughter (after one vaginal delivery), so I suspect that there may be a connective tissue issue also.

New on the forum

Hi
I've been reading some of the entries on the forum and would like to ask a few questions myself.
I'm 65 years old and mother of 7 children. Directly after the births of my children I was lucky enough not to notice any problems with pop.
In the last few years, however, I have become more and more aware of prolapse. This has been confirmed by my gynaecologist who interestingly enough did not recommend an operation as he said I might then have other problems.
