My story

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but not new to prolapse. Well, actually...

I have 3 kids living, 2 who's passed, 4 delivered vaginally, 1 cesearean.
The last kid was 13 years ago.

I've been faithfully having my annual PAPs for the last 7 years and was only told last July that I had a uterus prolapse by my family practitioner. He told me to see an OB to verify.
I made an appointment with one who saw me and said "nothing was wrong, I'm perfectly fine!"

Splinting 101

Ok everyone,

I recently started splinting (thumb in the vagina). Not great, but better than using laxatives. What I need to know is:

1. How long have some of you been doing this?
2. Do you have to do it every time?
3. Does it work as a long-term management tool, or will it make the rectocele worse?
4. Can the posture/bodywork/diet eliminate the need for this over time?

I think I have had a rectocele for a long time, just didn't know what it was.

Thanks for any help...

Back pain with posture

This is my first post. I'm pretty sure I have a stage 2 cystocele. I was dx with one initially immediately following birth 10 years ago but it's been mild until recently. Now I feel it and can see it. I've ordered Christine's book and have been trying to adopt the posture but my lower back HURTS! Alot!

Some questions

I'm 37 yrs old & 4 wks pp with my 3rd bub. Had an episotomy and vacuum with 1st, 2nd was a dream labour with no problems and 3rd was posterior (9lb12oz). A couple of wks ago I was devastated to find signs of a cystocele (grade 3 I think i.e. a few centimeters past remnants of hymen), possible rectocele & and a lower-than-normal uterus. Up until now I have been very fit & healthy (never even had a tooth cavity).

Please help with self-diagnosis

Well, I've been lurking for weeks and have probably read every post. I am so amazed at the number of strong, sage women. I'm hoping someone can help me understand what I am looking at/feeling. I'd be very appreciative as I'm sad to say that I've become obsessed with checking in the mirror.

Birthing positions and prolapse

i've been browsing many threads in this forum where everyone seems to agree that birthing on your back sets you up for problems... yet i had my last two babies on all fours (hands and knees), fairly quickly and easily (no intervention and no coached pushing), and my POP didn't show up until some time after the first of those births. in theory, my births were ideal for the prevention of prolapse, right? so i'm trying to figure out why "this happened to me"....? (was it all due to the unnecessary episiotomy and birth on my back of my first child?)

Don't pick him up like that or your uterus will fall!!!

Yes, those were the words a woman just said to me today. I wish I had been cautious about this with my first! No one has ever spoken those words (wise words and a brave woman, I'd say).

I'm 25 weeks pregnant. I actually have felt really good 'prolapse wise' up until now. I'm starting to feel the buldge again. Expecially when I sit down to urinate. There is a big ball that rest at the opening of my vagina. I'm guessing its the bladder.

Is there anything I can do to (exercises maybe)to keep myself from regressing? I was doing so well. I'm starting to get worried now.

Am I the only one out here leaning toward surgery?????

Wow - I have been up most of the night praying for strength, and the wisdom to make a sound decision and was and led to this site on my first internet search this morning. Thank you!
