back exercises problems for pelvic floor?

hello everyone

I'm new to this site. wondered if anyone out there had minor prolapse and back problems. After reading Christine's insighful intro to this subject I'm beginning to wonder if the back exercises my male physio has given me might not be helping my prolapse (although he does know of this) forgot to mention I'm from uk! Thanks folks

getting pregnant, being pregnancy, and laboring with prolapse

found this forum looking for any first hand accounts of getting pregnant again with prolapse.

i am 33 and have 2nd degree uterine prolapse after the birth of my 2nd child. we are trying now for baby number 3, but i am VERY nervous about what happens after i become pregnant....

will the uterus/baby ALWAYS move back up after its large enough to be supported by the cervix? is this process safe for the baby?

until it moves up, is it very uncomfortable? where there things you couldn't do? can i still exersice?

is preterm labor a risk because of the weakened muscles?

any advice from someone who has experienced this would be wonderful. i need some peace with this...

leakage problem, sometimes heavy

I have been trying christines exercises, will this help with the incontence? Im not sure Im doing the exercises the right way.

ABOUT MY DOCTOR'S VISIT

I went to my doctor on Friday and after the exam he is still claiming that I have an elongated cervix. Maybe so, but not that elongated and when I push on it I can feel more than just my cervix push back up abou 6 to 8 inches. He talked about cervical amputation again and claims that would correct the problem, I thought the first surgery was supposed to do that, not to mention the $15,000.00 my insurance company has to pay. It's not the money but IT IS THE PRINCIPAL to pay out that kind of money and things aren't right down there. Also, he claims I will have another 15% retention of the material used to pull everything up for the operation.

My doctor's appointment

I finally got into my Gyn. since finding this site and starting Christine's work. I told him how I have worked on my posture and exercises and since then do not have any problems with my cyctocele or uterus prolapse. However I still have pressure further back from my rectocele. I told him that I want to try a diet change but have to wait until I am done nursing (since I am already on a restricted diet with her allergies). He was very positive about trying natural ways to heal. I asked about a pessary and he said, "If you were 70 or 80 I would recommend it but since you are so young then I am 99% sure you won't like it!" Then he went on to say all the negative symptoms from one. He also said you can't have intercourse with it (are we behind on technology here? I thought there were ones you could have sex with?) Anyway, he said I could try it but he really made it sound BAD. Then he said, "If you are still suffering with this after you're done having kids then you could think about surgery." He went on to explain a hysterectomy and suspending the bladder and rectum back in place. He asked me if I researched this type of surgery (can't remember the name) and I told him I read all about them and they do not appeal to me at all! He said it is totally up to me and the quality of life I want. He said if you can live with what you have then you don't have to go the surgery route. He also said that my prolape probably won't get much worse after more children (all the damage is done with the first baby). I told him about taking the uterus out and then leaving room for the other organs to fall. He said that if he left the uterus there and pulled the bladder and rectum back into place, the uterus would fall more. He was expaining how my bladder is preventing my uterus from falling further down right now because it is pushing into the vaginal wall.

leakage problem, sometimes heavy

I just started with christines book and video, not really into it yet. I want to stop this leakage problem.

Overdoing Posture - Could it Cause Joint Pain?

I was doing the Posture for a while & began having knee & foot pain. I went to my chiro & had x-rays & found a congenital defect - my L-5 is fused to my sacrum. Would that possibly cause pain all the way down in my knees & feet if I maintained or overdid (the lumbar curve) the Posture especially while wearing my baby in a sling?

rectocele, anal fissure, internal sphincter muscle treated with Botox!

Hello!

I am not certain where these all fit but here goes...I was diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) in 1990 following a colonoscopy. I have managed to make a life around it. Had hemorroids, etc but recently developed a very nasty anal fissure that was eventually treated with Botox injections by my colorectal specialist. Been dealing with a rectocele for several years never realizing what it was until the Botox and fissure came into play. Due to the manipulation I use in order to empty completely, the doctor was not optimistic that the fissure would completely heal but I am working on it. Supposed to meet with him again in early July and just wanted to know what I should be prepared for as he is going to give me some options. I have read some of the postings and feel that I have not even given the conservative measures a try before I would or should consider surgery. Even with the IBS I do not eat as well as I should. I have never taken a fiber supplement and do not know a good one to try. I do not have urinary incontinence, painful sexual intercourse or anything protruding from the rectal area (other than hemorroids and a skin tag) nor have I had a vaginal delivery (my daughter is adopted) but I know the straining of the IBS has taken a toll on that area. I do have the feeling of not emptying completely and have to return to the bathroom. But again this is sporadic.

Rectocele

Michelle, Thanks for guiding me through the process of accessing old posts. I have spent several hours reading through lots of E mails. I now have a better understanding of grades of prolapse. Initially most of us experience shock and grief when we discover that we have a prolapse, then we seek information about treatment options. Have any readers found other useful sites? I am still trying to understand various terms used in relation to prolapse and apologise to readers who are familiar with terms such as Kegel. Are Kegels a specific set of pelvic floor exercises or is this a generic term used to describe any form of pelvic floor exercise? Has anyone else listened to the CD From Prolapse to Pelvic Power by Barbara Bell and Dr Judy Pippen? see www.pelvicfloorexercise.com.au Are these good exercises or could they be more harmful? I am trying to build up a useful body of knowledge and want to avoid things that others have found useless or harmful.

advanced prolapse

My OBGYN whom I am now leaving for a new doctor at our med school, advised me to do nothing and live with stage 3 ( really bad) prolapse. I have done kegals but don't understand how if something heavy drops and is pulled downward, how does the opening to the vagina resist this kind of pressure.
I hope to be fitted with a pessary.... does that mean no sex!
