new to this looking for advice

If I give my history maybe someone can offer some advice. I am 38. 3 months after the birth of my first baby something just didn't feel right, it was as though something had 'dropped' whatever it was was visible and felt in the wrong place. I went to the doctor who briefly examined me and told me it was a bladder prolapse, probably caused by a long labour. I had an episiotomy and ventousse delivery as the cord was around the baby and she just wasn't coming out. He advised pelvic floor exercises. 6 months later I was fine and fell pregnant again.

This is in response to Christine's excellent review of Yoga poses & modifications. Thank you!

Uterine Prolaps

I went for my yearly a couple of weeks ago and my doc informed me that my uterus had dropped and began asking lots of questions about incontinence. Since I think of incontinence as "peeing in your pants" I told him that I don't have that problem anymore. I didn't think to mention that if I laugh or cough too hard then yes, I will leak a little bit. Well, when I got home I had to see for myself what he was talking about and for the first time in my life I actually felt my cervix...its sitting about 1 1/2 inches just inside my vaginal opening. It is completely on the front wall.

3 weeks postpartum with new rectocele

Hi! I just had my fourth son 3 weeks ago. I had a cystocele after the birth of my second son which was very minor. It got worse after my third son but then was better where I would only notice it at certain times of the month when my estrogen was lower. It did not go past the labia or create any other problems. I never had a rectocele before.

Couple of lifestyle questions

Hello there, I'm new to all of this (I posted in the pregnancy section last week).

I read on this site that tight clothing over the abdomen is not helpful with prolapse. I'm wondering about high-heeled shoes? Is that a no-no?

Also, how much walking is beneficial? My physio said start with 10 minutes but I'm wondering what everyone else thinks?

I'm sure I had other questions in mind but my sleep-deprived baby-brain is unable to think much right now....I'll probably be back with more!

Elliptical

I am 9 weeks pp, and my doc says the little bulge in my vagina is my bladder pushing on the loose anterior wall of my vagina. He says this is really common, to be expected, and will go away over the next several months. I think I may have 'caused' it be running at 4 weeks pp, but who knows. He said that about 50% of new moms have this (maybe more that don't report it). I am hoping lots of tightening will come after I wean the baby, but that's not for a year or more, I guess.

Chocolate "Rock" Cookies!!!

I found this recipe in the Oprah magazine. I made them with my son and they were soooo good. They had NO white flour in them. I'm pretty sure I overate them and thought "uh oh" bad poop for a few days, but NONE! I was thrilled! They actually seemed to make "things" come out with complete ease. Anyway.....

Chocolate "Rocks"

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup rolled oates
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup apple butter

Study: Female Incontinence Is Common
Incontinence Not an Inevitable Part of Aging, Researchers Report
By Miranda Hitti
WebMD Medical NewsReviewed by Louise Chang, MDFeb. 29, 2008 -- Women often don't tell their doctors about incontinence, overactive bladder, and pelvic organ prolapse, but those problems are common, a new study shows.

The study urges women not to accept those problems as a normal part of aging.
