Is this a prolapse ? will cones/pelvic floos exercisers help ?

Hi

Well I guess I am like a lot of you on this site - arriving here in a panic with a million questions, so here goes - would someone please be kind enough to pass on their knowledge on this ?

I am 32 and had my first baby by emergency C-section 6 months ago. It was a horrible, horrible birth that still haunts me now. I have had post-natal depression and have just come' out of the woods' so to speak and it feels so good to be back ! I did pelvic floor exercises through out my pregnancy and apart from a little leakage near the end had no concerns. After the birth I was in quite a state for a long time and so lapsed on the pelvic floor exercises for the first 4 months. After the birth I had chronic constipation for 4 weeks that the midwife assured me was 'normal'. I also had small amounts of leakage and 'vaginal farting' which was at the time the least of my concerns. These symptoms have continued until now. I continued with my pelvic floor exercises recently and I feel like there is still quite good strength there. However when wearing a tampon they slip to the entrance of my vagina so I guess its not the case, or is somthing pushing it out ?

Another newbie...with questions!

Hi Everyone,
New here and thought I’d say hi. Bit long, but needing to share with other great women who understand what I’m going through (plus lots of questions!!!)

I developed several prolapses, which I became aware of about 3 weeks after the birth of my second child a few weeks ago. I’d had a rough pregnancy, with symphisis pubis really affecting me, lovely birth, but hard recovery…and 3 weeks later discovered a bladder prolapse (which soon followed with a dropping cervix on one side, and i think a mild rectocele). The first few days I almost wished someone would say “you need surgery” as I just wanted this over with. My midwife is adement about controlling them with pelvic floor work, and my general doctor also didn’t think I’d need it (even though my front vaginal wall is bulging out quite badly…), But after a few days of researching the surgery, I realized quickly it’s not an option for me. I have no desire to replace one set of issues with others that are possibly worse, and unfixable!

lower back pain with posture + numbness...

Hi all,
I have another email to post with my general hello and what's up!
But rather briefly, I've just had baby no. 2 6 weeks ago, and 3 weeks later voila les prolapses!

I've started trying the posture and am finding that my lower back is hurting. I'm trying to just think of relaxing my stomach / lower spine over my pelvis, and pulling up the rest of my back over the spine.
I'm not doing it all day as I'm not comfortable enough with it, but am working on it whilst sitting (which is a lot of my day playing and feeding) and also whilst standing, and some whilst walking (though hard when concentrating on anything else...)

urinary tract infection?

How do you know if you have a urinary tract infection. What are the symptoms? Are antibiotics the only way out? Robin

treatment for urinary incontinence

The extreme position for moving the urethra up and forward is this:

Sit on the floor with your legs stretched out in front of you.

Sit with strong upper body posture and the lumbar curve in place.

Rotate your hip joints all the way inward by maximally pointing your toes/knees/ thighs toward each other.

Lean forward AT THE HIPS and strongly contract the muscles of the pelvic wall (floor). Pull up through the crown of the head.

Breathe deeply through your nose while allowing your belly to relax.

Count to ten and release.

Repeat. Work up to 10X twice a day or until symptoms resolve.

My Bladder

Today, without warning, I stood up and couldn't get to the bathroom fast enough. (actually I didn't) Was not in control of my urinating. My prolapse did me in. I've had sporadic incidents in the past. This one today let me know I was not in control. Is this a permanent situation? Does this mean I now have to live in a bucket?

Irritable urethra

Hi all

Well, you know how I am always trumpeting that I don't even notice my prolapses 95% of the time. Well the other 5% has just arrived. I wonder if anyone can give me ideas for what to do.

I have noticed over the last few days that my urethra feels kind of low and kind of burny, kind of prickly, some of the time. A bit of urgency, and I don't pass much urine. It is only happening when I am doing standing type activities, and I have been doing a lot of reasonably heavy handiperson work for the last week. I can ignore it for some time, like an hour or two, then suddenly there is an urge to go. I don't think it is a classic urinary tract infection, as I go for hours without any urgency at all, just a vague sensation that my urethra is there. No problems at night. I think I have just hit mid-cycle and my vagina might be getting a bit dry as it does in the second two weeks, so that's probably not helping.

contacting via e-mail

does any one know what's up with the feature where you should be able to contact someone by e-mail via this site? it does seem to be on the fritz at the moment. i checked my own and it said i wasn't accepting e-mail, which isn't so.

help, anyone?

thanks.

so i've never really paid attention to my cystolcele...

because it just wasn't troubling me at all. very very minor, was what i was told. and, let's face it, the rectocele was the one that felt not good.

but these last few days, i've noticed i'm leaking urine with more frequency. hm.. how weird. i'd love some input on this because, well, i just don't want to get freaked out at all. no point THERE.

now, i have been enormously increasing my activity level. wonder if that's related. again, with the rectocele, its just felt so FINE that i've pretty much been back to my normal things of gym, walking, just feeling good. maybe too much? maybe i need to refocus on the posture, i'm not in it as much as i think i am?

Exercise

I am still trying to figure out just what exercise I can do and what exercise I can't. Are there PTs who are trained to work with women with prolapses? How does one find them (close enough to drive to)?
