My bad luck runneth over

Hi everyone, how is everyone doing? Well for the past few days I haven't actually been worrying about my prolaspe, looks like I have something else to worry about now. Sunday night we had a bad storm hit here in Texas and we got over 15 inches of rain. I woke up to go use the bathroom and I heard a dripping noise. I went into the living room and boy was I in for a shock. My living room was like a rain forest. We ended up using 42 buckets to catch the water. It was like living a nightmare. About 6 months before hand, we had hurricane Rita hit us and it damaged our roof. FEMA( federal emergency management association) had came out to look at the house a few weeks after the hurricane and said we didn't have alot of damage( we had alot though ) and denied us help, saying the roof would hold if we had anymore bad rain. We knew we needed a new roof but the contractors told us it would be July before they could come fix it. So in the meantime, we put a blue tarp on the roof covering it up until we could have it repaired. Guess that didn't help any. Now our carpet is ruined as is our ceiling. My husband took off the ceiling tiles and they were covered in black mold. The sheetrock was gone and it was just a mess. It was like reliving the hurricane all over again. We are trying like crazy to get rid of the mold. We have knocked down the tiles and have pulled out some of the walls to get rid of the mold Thankfully the kids are staying with my family until we can get rid of it. In the meantime, I just hope me and my husband don't get sick from the mold. I never thought that would happen to us. I just hope they hurry up and fix our roof before hurricane season approaches us. If we get another direct hit, we won't have a house. My computer was also damaged from the water dripping on it. Sorry I rambled on about everything and I know this really doesn't relate to womens' health but I guess I just needed to relieve some steam. By the way, I am still doing my exercises to relieve stress and help my body as well. Hope all of you are doing good too. Hugs to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!

PROLAPSE SURGERY

I wish I had listened to my inner self, or at least, checked out everthing more in detail. Yes, I had surgery for Prolapse--------all three--even though I didn't have symptoms of all three. I was told by my surgeon that eventually I would so he wanted to fix them all, so I wouldn't need further surgery. Well, guess what, I am now three weeks past surgery, and between the pain, nausa, wearing a cathater for a week, and a list of other crappy details my uterus has prolapsed again. I go back to my doctor Thursday and I know I have no options expect a pessary or surgery and I don't want either one.

In the good old days

Hi everyone

Just a thought. Back in the days before the obstetric intervention and management of labour by hospital staff that seems to cause so many prolapses, I guess women laboured bravely on during difficult births. They either gave birth to a normal baby by the Grace of God, or a baby who was brain-damaged or very ill at birth, and/or suffered perineal tears just as some women today do. Or else either she, or her baby, or both, died in the process. Our pioneer graveyards are testament to these events.

These days, babies from difficult labours are dragged out or cut out surgically, and most in our country today will live to perhaps 100 years of age; few women die in childbirth; stillbirths and infant mortality are greatly reduced, and fewer fathers bury their wives and children.

visit to uro gyn

Hi all
Just yesterday I had my first visit with the urogyn since my cystocele diagnosis with my GP. I have seen this particular urogyn years before for an unrelated problem (or possibly related) and didn't much like his bedside manner. His bedside manner yesterday was much improved but this is essentially what he told me. Bear in mind he is the appararent guru when it comes to urogynaecology.

- Let's try a pessary (we did and I've got to report I don't feel at all uncomfortable, in fact I don't notice it at all)
- Surgery is inevitable. Even if you don't choose it now you'll be back to see me in 2 years asking for surgery. There's really no other option aside from learning to live with it.

Can't find FAQs, Tips, or Resources sections!

Where do I go to find these sections? I don't see them anywhere on the home page or the Whole Woman Center.

Also- does the Saving the Whole Woman book have all of these postures and exercises everyone is talking about? I'm searching for some guidance on how to hold my body- what is an abdominal brace or stomach brace? I'm hurting and I don't know what to do- how to hold things- to relieve it.

Downhill with physical therapy (kegals)

Kegals again, I can hear you groaning Christine. My story ... when I found a woman's specialist pt who herself has a uterine prolapse & has avoided surgery through exercises I thought it was my lucky day. Before pt I practiced the pose (still do), took herbs, & managed quite well with whatever discomfort (prolapse dropping) coming in the evening. With pt I am going downhill. Now my uterus is low from the time I'm in an upright position & much more is visible, looks like it will drop right out! Seems to me the opening is getting weaker not stronger. I was impressed that my pt does work with the whole body including posture & other exercises & of course with her own success.

Can someone enlighten me on how to do good toning stomach

exercises that don't compromise posture? I was doing this: laying on back, knees bent, legs in air, lower back to ground, one leg out in, next leg out in. OK/ or not?

Thanks,\

Marie

Hi and thinking of you all

Hi all,
I wanted to drop a line to say I think about you women often and that I haven't been checking in much lately due to buying, selling and moving house. We've been busy with all this and will be moving at the end of June. Hopefully by the end of July I'll be able to sit down and read through some of the topics I've missed. That's the problem, once you don't check in for a week or two, it's overwhelming checking the new responses. I have a hard time skimming the text because I want to read everything someone took the time to write. Sometimes I find it easier to just close the website.

Toronto Canada URO-gynocologists - my experience

Hi

Now that i'm in catch-up post mode, a good while ago i asked christine whether she thought it o.k to post our experiences with doc's she said we could and then i forgot to do so.... Well i was back for my six month visit with my uro-gyn today and rememberer.

well i've been to two of i think three uro-gyne's in toronto city.

I went to DANA SOROKO of St. Micheal's hospital in november they said today and she was very pleasant that day. She took the name of Christine's site and book and did not at all push surgery or pessaries. She said i had a mild bladder prolapse. I even felt not too rushed despite that sort of unpleasant time saving tactic of having a trainee take all your details and then be passed on for the "viewing" with the Doc.

my news re : helpfull practitioners?

Hi

I wrote last week that i had some interesting news and i started a post to describe what i'd found out and just wanted to run it past you Christine (first without naming names), to make sure you think it's ok and see whether you think we should get into discussing people who say they can help us.

I've been looking into Traditional chinese medicine excercise, such as Qi gong (a health orinted chinese movement practice) and body-work such as chinese abdominal massages and when doing this rang around the practitioners in Canada (where i am) to ask about their experiences with treating prolapses if they had any.
