Irritated bladder & food

Hi all,
A few people have mentioned in recent(ish) posts about intercystial cystistis and irritable bladder symptoms (like having chronic bladder infections) . I just thought I would mention that it's worth seeing the affect of diet on these. Quite a few years ago I had TERRIBLE irritable bladder symptoms, and was scheduled to have a bladder probe I was so desperate, but also felt so strongly there must be an answer that I put off the surgery 3 times . I also had other iritable bowel symptoms.

Finally I tried giving up gluten, and within a week I was a new person and my bladder symptoms were all gone. If i accidentally eat gluten, the next day I feel the need to pee all the time even if I don't have to (and like I've been hit by a bus...).

Uterine Prolapse Pessary

I have been diagnosed with stage 2 unterine prolapse. I am 58 years old and want to try using a pessary. However, after having read Christine's book, I want a pessary that I can remove myself to clean, etc. My doctor isn't very knowledgable, it seems. He is trying to obtain a pessary with a 'string'. Can anyone recommend a brand or type of pessary that I will be able to remove at my convenience? Thank you!

Can someone please help me with self diagnosis of cystocele ? - and is my prolapse dropping ?

Hello

Would someone please be able to assist with a few questions on self diagnosis - I cannot down load the file and I am feeling a little scared ! I apologise in advance if this is too much information !
I can feel 1.5 - 2 inches inside my vagina on the front wall a large soft mass that seems to take up a large amount of the vagina. I cannot run my finger fully around it - it seems to be joined to a wall - and so I assume this a cyctocele ?. I can also feel on the other side of my vagina if my bowel is full - very scary !! - does this mean I have a rectocele as well ? Around the entrance to my vagina I can feel more flesh there than is normal - I presume this would be the uretha dropped down ?

hey granolamom

hi. i was just checking out old posts and you mentioned (i think almost two years ago) that you were trying to quit caffeine. i think what i have read recently in my bladder irritant posts that you are caffeine free!!!! how did you finally succeed. i find with my sleep deprivation (due to my lovely 14 week old), that i cannot go without caffeine. others mentioned tea, which for the bladder is still an irritant and has caffeine in it. i typically drink several cups...but they are part caf, part decaf. i would miss the ritual...smell, etc. what was your secret???

update on bladder, etc

well, i went to PA for my weekly kegals/pelvic stimulation. because of my vaginal burning she did exam and put off pelvic stim til next week. vaginal exam did show some irritation in entrance of vagina. (inside not outside, so she is ruling out that it is due to pads). however, all tests on discharge were negative. urine sample didn't show bacteria, but did show microspopic amt of blood. i am having urinary urgency, burning around vagina still, but not really burning upon urination. The PA is assuming a few things...bladder irritation from something (will repeat urine next visit). if still blood they will do tests to check bladder (hope not because i don't like the idea of someone sticking something in my urethra. has anyone had that done??? also wondering, possibly if i am allergic to the lube they put on the probe for the pelvic stimulation. so seems to be two different issues??? also, i think because of my cystocele, my urethra is not alligned the way it should be and is causing some of these issues. so strange because my vagina feels better when i lie down, because it doesn't have to deal with the cystocele hanging there. yet, my bladder/urethra feels better standing up. i can't win. so if anyone can make heads or tails of what i just said....you are a genius!

Newly diagnosed with questions

Hello ladies, I have just been diagnosed with a rectocele and a cystocele.I am 5 wks post partum to a beautiful ababy girl , and I have 3 other girls.Yes , 4 girls!LOL.My gyn doesn't seem to think that it's serious, but of course to me it is.He told me to do Kegel's and in time,it should get better.I do not know what grade it is,but it's not hanging out,it's not right at the opening, but if I look in the mirror I can definitely see it.He said it shouldn't be causing a problem , but I definitely do feel heaviness. My questions are, am I going to have problems with the "s" word(sex, how dare I think of that now!LOL)?It just seems that since there is "things" in the way it would cause a problem.Dr says no,but I wanted to ask someone with experience. Also, as for menstrual cycles? Are they the same as before?I am so confused and angry with all this.I am trying to stay positive, but it's hard.Any help would be greatly appreciated.TIA.

young & recently diagnosed with prolapse, can I conceive?

I am 25, and in a wheelchair because I broke my back in a car accident a little over three years ago. I believe that because I initially lost all sensation and use of my lower half, that this is part of what caused my prolapse (since the muscle wasn't in use for so long; but I have since regained minimal abilities and much sensation).

I am recently engaged, and although I have a six year old boy from a previous relationship, I long for another child.

It is very important to me that I have another child, and I guess my question is this, can I still get pregnant, even though I have the prolapse, and if I can, can I carry the baby to term and have a healthy baby?

new to sight

Hi Everyone. I am new to communicating on websites and this is my first time. I have rectocele and was diagnosis last year. My Gyn put me on estrace cream to insert 4-5 times a week. I am 62 years young. I am going through menopause and have not had a period in over a year. Was on hormones for 10 yrs. After the scare went off and tried the bioidentical but did not work for me. I went 6 month without hot flashes, night sweats, etc. but in the last 3 months have started all over again with these symptoms. My questions is could estrace be causing this? I just moved to another state and have not found a Gyn yet. I did get a 2nd opinion and was told it was my option about any surgery.

Newbie-scared and confused

Hello-So glad I happened upon this forum. I have an appointment next week with a urogynecologist but I am sure I have both rectocele and cystocele(sp?).
I saw my PC and have many if not all of the symptoms. I am 56 and still have my uterus--went thru the change 5 years ago. I had been having problems with bowel for over a year--some constipation, cannot empty bowel etc.

My first question is about the pain. My real pain started 6 weeks ago and seemed to coincide with a combination of lifting some heavy boxes, doing some new pelvic exercises a PT gave me for my hip, and going to the gym alot. I was making great progress on my weight-lost 15 pounds so far. I have horrible pain that is in my rectum (up about 4 or 5 inches)......in my buttocks and tope of thighs..sometimes feel it in vagina and groin.
