Colonoscopy

Christine-or anyone who has had this done?
What would we do in case of rectocele in regard to colonoscopy's?
My dad just had one and from the description...I would be really aprehensive in having one done since I have a rectocele.
Could it potentially damage you?

I suggest a survey...

Christine, if you are reading, i have a suggestion.
i see you now have 1469 members and rising each day. how about conducting some research on us. can i suggest you commission a survey for completion either by circular or online.
you could ask about
1 age group
2 parity
3 obstetric intervention
4 previous surgery
5 outcome
6 outcome after 1,5, 10 years etc
7 type of prolapse
8 symptomatic or not
9 whether responsive to the posture
10 whether responsive to fire breathing
11 any other feedback on what works
surely there is a wealth of information available to you.

searching for answers

I've just been diagnosed with rectocele, cystocele and a prolapsed uterus, level 3. Doc is recommending a repair with gynecare prolift which supposedly takes half the time of traditional surgery, causes less pain and allows for quicker recovery. It is minimally invasive and uses a mesh implant. Has anyone had any experience with this? Also, I keep reading of Christine and her movie and such, can some one fill me in?

firebreathing enquiry

Hi

would love to know how people are getting on with the firebreathing excercise? It sounds great but i haven't had time to do it.

Body Mechanics Question

Hi Everyone,

I have a question about body mechanics. When I stand, I feel the "presence" of my bladder in my vagina. On some days, it feels saggy, and on others, there's actually pressure.

When I sit, I feel no presence, no sagginess, no pressure-ever.

Conceivably, when I'm sitting, my bladder should still be in the vaginal canal, right? It's not as if sitting provides internal support to the vaginal wall.

So what is it about standing that contributes to the lack of support?

Also, the organs are more stable in standing than in walking for me.

There must be something about the shape, position, movement of the pelvis in standing and walking that contributes to the lack of PO support (at least for me).

Baby boy for mouchoir

Hi ladies. Well it's about time I gave you all a status report! My gorgeous little (well 8lb 7oz) boy was born on 07/07/07 and is just the cutest bundle of joy. The birth was interesting with an easy labour from 10am to 8pm where I was up and playing with my daughter and chatting with friends and family. At 8pm pains stepped up in intensity but went from having been 6/7 mins apart to 10/11 mins apart. I thought everything was slowing down and might stop so decided not to go to hospital despite the pain. At 10pm waters broke with a pop, I felt baby take a lurch downwards and was suddenly in so much pain I couldn't get up to change my trousers! Got boyfriend up from a nap (I'd insisted he take one 5 mins earlier!) and set off for the 30 mins drive to hosp. I could feel baby's head stinging in the car. Was met at the hospital door with a wheelchair, brought straight to delivery where I refused to be examined as I kept telling here "the baby's comingggggggggg". With help made it onto the bed but couldn't flip over so told boyfriend to ignore previous wishes, this baby was being born with me on my back. He persuaded me to let him help me onto my knees and I could feel baby's head kind of sliding in and out of me. I had intended not to push but needed the crowning pain to be over so gave a squeeze for about a minute and out his head popped, midwife told me not to push any more that his body was just easing out on its own. So it was done in about 10 mins from hospital door to baby being born, no time for pain relief, no need for stitches. Pretty good.

Is the posture useful for women who have had surgery?

If a woman has a surgical procedure that suspends pelvic organs from places they were never meant to be suspended from, and fuses structures that are normally mobile, then subsequently experiences further pelvic organ prolapse, can she benefit from adopting Wholewoman posture? And is it a feasible alternative to further surgery?

I would just like to go back to basics and ask this question. We haven't discussed it for a while.

Cheers

Louise

Pessary advice perleeease :-)

Hi Ladies,
It's me again with another question...
I had a donut ring pessary fitted on Friday it was a 68mm one - is this small? It looked smallish to me.
Anyway It felt so nice not to be so heavy when I left the nurses office that I thought why would anyone have surgery when these things work? I reserved judgement though and I'm glad I did as when I sat on the loo for a wee I had a feel and it seemed to be right down in my vagina.
I read one of Christines replies to another post about how pessaries arent so horizontal as the diagrams the manufacturers use, but mine just wont stay anything but vertical and low in my vagina...it means the bulge is still there as the pessary isnt in the right place.

Constipation

Please tell me what to take every night for constipation! I was taking "Natures Secret Super Cleanse" or Natures Secret Fiber tablets! Just found out they say "not for long term use"! Those did help me, and they say there is no stimulants in them. Can anyone suggest something better? It must run in my family, because my Mom had the same problem! Help please! Nancy

hot flash relief.......aaahhhhhh!

Waking in the night every hour, soaked. Getting dressed to go out for the day, twenty minutes later, soaked. Fanning myself, turning on the AC, drinking ice water. I had had enough! My doctor suggested a very low dose prescription to remedy hot flashes: effexor. I hesitantly took the prescription home and thought about it for a few days. Finally, I relented. Within 24 hours, it worked. Hot flashes reduced to a mere whisper. Can sleep again. Can wear a silky blouse without feeling like I am in a torture chamber!
