starr rectal surgery fairly new has anyone had it

I'm having starr rectal surgery in a week and a half its fairly new and want to know if anyone has had it and the recovery time. this surgery is done thru the anus and fixes rectal prolaspe and rectocele.

Refresh outlook

I am now dedicated to staying in good posture, staying lean and active. Spent about a week going through the literature and being secretly unhappy after I asked myy gyn about my newly diagnosed pelvic prolapse and was told, "It just happens". Never had children, smoked, or became overweight.Humf!! I am a gym teacher, horseback rider and have enjoyed active life for 54 years. Not ready to go for huge surgery, life disruption and untold linked problems with that direction. I love the idea of making correct posture and good exercise a giant priority. It's worth it. Nothing is for free - I don't want any organs "slung" to any bone structure that was not intended to carry them - sounds like a Rx for trouble. Two wrongs don't make a right. Isn't it great that we have good alternatives?

Further clarification needed regarding Whole Woman posture

This is JoMama51 asking about clarification on posture please. I am overweight, so my belly already extends out over my pubic bone. When I pull up my stomach, it gets firm, and is rounded out more from breastbone to pubic area, but sticks out even further over my pubic bone. Is this OK, or should I attempt to pull it in towards the public bone more? I am also noticing that when I perform this posture, it causes me to tighten my pelvic area and vagina muscles also - is this normal? Many thanks.

Question?

I have been doing the posture exercise for four days now and have seen a great improvment in my cystocele, but today after I had gone to the bathroom, I noticed a heavy yellowish discharge that had an order. Is this normal? I am about 3 weeks post partum, so I'm wondering when the prolapse goes up, If the discharge is a build up since my bladder kind of blocks my vaginal opening. Sorry if TMI...

Lower Back Pain

Has anybody suffered any lower back pain when they begun the posture? I don't have Christine's book yet (ordered thru Amazon), but I have been doing the posture from the info on this site and I hope that I'm doing it right. My back could be just sore due to the fact that I have always had bad posture (rounded sholders) and now I'm training my back to be in proper alignment. I've also notied that my body feels fatigued since I've been doing the posture, is this normal too? I've only been doing this for 4 days now, but I have noticed an improvment in my cystocele!

please help

I am sorry if i am repeating previous posts but i just cannot concentrate to read all previous posts as i am so distressed. i had my beautiful baby boy six weeks ago. wonderful natural labour. about a week post partum still felt sore, and felt my vagina was swollen. all i had had previous to this was a very sore tail bone and the normal soreness. i had no tears or anything. very constipated after the birth, not opening my bowels for 5 days. anyway went to my gp who said i was just sore and bruised from the birth. went back to gp and she said the same so i went to a gyn who said i had a cervical/uterine prolapse and referred me to a gyn. i cannot see my cervix at the opening of my vagina, does this mean it is only a mild prolapse? it is definately better than at first as it hurt to stand up at first. it aches and i can't walk for long periods. however i feel a constant fullness or draging except for in the mornings and to be honest am getting very depressed at the thought of never returning to normal. i am 34, first child, want more children asap and want to resume a normal sex life with my husband. the physio has given me several different excercises to do but what i really need is hope that i will get better. has anyone here been in a similar situation. i am just devestated and want to be able to do normal things again and enjoy my wonderful baby, but i feel like a black cloud is hanging over me, any help would be truly appreciated,

Hello, glad to have found you!

I have been reading these posts for about two months now after searching the web trying to find out what the heck was wrong with me. I have had four vaginal births in the last 7 years (hospitialized, flat on my back, epidural, episiotomy) and have diagnosed myself with a moderate rectocele. I am very glad that there is a place I can go for emotional support and have since found out that I am pregnant again. Of course I am very concerned about my rectocele getting worse. I am planning a home water birth with a midwife this time and let my body (not the doctors) tell me how to deliver. I was so frustrated with my last two hospital deliveries that I am very soured on the obgyn situation! I just laid there thinking "how can I push effectively like this, I need to stand up, squat down, something!" They were telling me to push when I didn't feel like it, and not push when I did! I wish I would have spoken up, but in a clinical setting like that you feel so intimidated and invisible.

Cystocele...Need answers, please

Hello, I am 28 years old and I am 3 weeks post partum and I have a cystocele. I am pretty upset about it, and I have so many questions. I don't want to have any surgury and I am glad I found this website, it really gives me hope!

My question is could my prolapse be related to a fall when I was 6 months pregnant? I fell and severely bruised my tailbone and I am still having pain there. Also, when I first became pregnant, my Dr mentioned that I had a tipped uterus, but did not emply that there was anything that might be wrong. I now know that a tipped uterus is a sign of the begining of a prolapse.

Slinging the baby

Hi all:
This is only my fourth day in the posture and I can't believe how in the matter of a day, the posture seems like I've been doing it all my life! The first few days were hard, I felt like a prancing peacock, but now it seems so natural. Is this how it's been for any of you? I am amazed and overwhelmed with happiness how the pressure is gone from my pelvic area. Now, I really need to work on the posture while I carry my daughter in my sling. The hip carry seems to be a bit difficult because it forces your body out of wack. I'm thinking I may need to do the back carry exclusively. Anyone out there using the hip carry or back carry while in posture? Thanks!

Risks of Colonoscopy

Just wondering if anyone knows about particulars risks of "benign" diagnostic tests like colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy and the like for women with prolapse. I know these can be lifesavers when it comes to detecting cancer and other serious diseases, but are these routine tests really completely safe?
