Lichen Sclersis or Sclerosus?

I'm 35 and my doctor told me that I have Lichen SclerosUS and he emphasized the 'U' at the end. Is this the same disease?

Thankfully, I'm passed the itching phase. Diet was key for me.

Elongated Cervix Information

Knowledge is empowering - intuition too. Trusting ourselves is huge!

For just over a year now, my pop diagnosis by health practioner's and self, is now diagnosed as an elongated cervix. After re-visiting the urogynecologist's office via telephone, with more pertinent questions suggested by Christine and Louise (ty), the nurse had no clue - She sent q's to the dr., and called me back with this info.:

Says that an elongated cervix is just a nuisance. Says it's like having a large nose. I guess it has grown over the year's, because it's not always been sagging.

New to the group with some questions

I am not exactly sure if this is how I post something but I thought I would give it a try. I went through menopause about 3 years ago and just a couple of weeks ago I felt a bulge inside my vagina on the back side. I also experienced alot of back pain and changes in my bowel movements. One day I am fine and the next I feel like something might fall out. It is uncomfortable to sit down and also to bend over. I just had a pap smear in January and everything was fine.

phytoestrogens vs. synthetic hormones

Hi Christine,
So i know it's in the paper but my brain has trouble getting around chemistry and biology. so, help please!

what i'm having trouble understanding is the difference between introducing phytoestrogens into the body vs. synthetic ones. for instance, i'm still getting chronic thrush, and i know estrogen from the pill can be a factor. how is this diff't to taking phytoestrogens? could the later aggravate the yeast?

also if you are pre menopausal, and thus in theory have plenty of estrogen (of the right kinds?), how would this impact upon LS taking phytoestrogens?

pessaries

Hi,

I'm off to my doctor soon and I want to be clear about when pessaries may or may not be useful; there's probably not a simple answer to this but I have found searching the site rather confusing.
I have ordered Christines book but it hasn't come yet. (I'm in the UK and I assume the problem of aeroplanes not flying due to volcanic ash may be the reason for this)
Thank you for any help.

Estrogen Ring?

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience using the estrogen ring? I have a fallen bladder and my OBGyn has recommended the ring. It is supposed to keep the estrogen within the ring and help keep the bladder back in place. Any discomfort level? I am post menopausal.
Otherwise, is it safe with a fallen bladder to insert tampons (I use one tampon when I take a bath) or to have sex? Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Books

My name is aza and i am completely and unashamedly addicted to books. I've gotten a few really good recommendations from women on this forum and thought I'd start a thread as a resource for us all (not that I am looking for more books to buy or anything;) )

So spread around my house right now (I won't even go to the bookshelf just yet):
* STWW (obviously)
* Woman by Natalie Angier (whoa SO much information on anatomy and physiology of the female body and quite humorous to read, which is always a help)

My body is lying to me.

I'll be minding my own business when suddenly my body screams, "YOU NEED TO PEE NOW!" and then the feeling vanishes. I really didn't need to go.

And then I might feel an urge, so I go sit down and nothing happens. If I do a few half-Kegels I can get a small stream going.

What's going on? Are my nerves confused?

New Information about my so called uterine prolapse/now it's an elongated cervix

Well, just today I went to a new Dr., to get fitted for a pessary, which, my natural physical therapist said I was a perfect candidate for after her exam with me. She feels with basic core exercises and a pessary, things may go back to normal. And, give me more freedom in the meantime - for exercise, etc.

I was so nervous going to a medical office (I'm pro-holistic), and had 3 surgeries in the urinary area before age 6. Thank God, I can stand up for myself. The first md kind of did the pre-work before the expert urogynecologist. She was so anatomy focused and harsh - couldn't find anything prolapsed, which, I think was partly due to not working or being on my feet much the past week or so. And, my guy was visiting from back east and I were sexually active this past week, which seems to have caused other problems.? Uti, I don't know for sure yet. When the expert dr. came in, she was ok - she had me stand up to examine and train the other dr I guess, and said it's a good thing I came, because what I have is an elongated cervix, which she says is very unusual. Said a pessary could help. And, did I want one. Any surgical procedure would be to shave or cut off part of the cervix. OUCH! They do the same thing for cervical dysplasia. I really don't want to go there.

Not sure if I am happy about this. I'm told an elongated cervix just grows. I'm grateful it's not a prolapse, although, she says it doesn't mean I won't get one. I'm still very concerned and confused. And, dealing with much pain in my whole genital area. Too much sex?

V2 supporter

After buying some post pregancy support shorts (look like black lycra gym shorts but have lots of panels), and finding they squashed my tummy too much, I decided to try the V2 supporter as many posted they found it helpful. Today it arrived in the mail - I have been checking the mailbox in anticipation for this and was happy to see it there. I ran (well walked quickly) into the house and tried it on.... much to my dissapointment I don't really feel much difference. Has anyone used it for a rectocele?
