Clinic of embarrassing illnesses...

This is a programme we have here (I'm in the UK, so you may not have heard of it). I was watching last night and one of the patients presented with a bulge at her vaginal opening (obviously I knew it was going to be a prolapse, so I was riveted!). Anyway, she was examined and the Doctor said her bladder was prolapsed....no big surprsie to me. Anyway, the GP on the TV said, "you can have surgery to fix this" so the lady had the surgery (a half an hour operation!) and the programme followed her up afterwards and the woman had no bulge, no prolapse, no nothing!

Does a rectocele...

..cause problems with constipation and having a bowel movement?

I've been getting a lot of lower abdominal pain and think it may be from constipation. I've been diagnosed with a grade 2 cystocele and a mild uterine prolapse, I've been referred to a physio-therapist to help improve things. The Gyne I saw asked about my bowels, so I'm wondering about a rectocele too...?

Does anyone get low pelvic pain with their prolapses?

Differences in attitude to POP

Hi Wholewomen

I'm prompted to post about this for a couple of reasons.

Flat feet

I am keen to start this. I have an everythingocele! I feel disgusting. I am worried now about the feet straight forward thing and thinking about your arches.
I dont have any arches- my feet are significantly flat. is this an issue.

Also, I want to start the whole woman 'thing' but, I am finding it hard to know how, or where!! Could someone direct me in the right direction?

Thanks so much

First time talking about this....

I'm a 38 (almost 39) year old first time mom who has a stage 2 cystocele. I've known about it since I was 6 wks pp (I am know 13 wks pp). When I discovered it I of course freaked out like everyone else. Cried for days, mourned what I thought was a great birth, and just felt sad and crappy. My husband has been wonderful but it is totally affecting our relationship. I just don't feel the same anymore and don't want anyone touching me. I feel like a horrible mother even though I hold and cuddle my son all the time.

Weird question - Swimming?

I am wondering if Swimming can worsen POp - Maybe temporarily...

Went swimming last weekend for first time in ages where i really swam... And swam lots...

Past two days POP been a bit worse - So just wondering if they might be related - I for some reaso thought swimming would be fine...

Guess I might just be having a woprse couple of days - Just wondered if anyone else had this happen?

If not - I will wait till it gets back to 'normal' and test again I guess...

just had pessary fitted not sure its in the right position

Hi Hope someone can help.I'll give you a quick history of my problem. I've been suffering with a moderate cystocele for just over 18 months since the birth of my 2nd child, dragging feeling when I walk, can't pick heavy items up etc, no incontinence. I first saw a consultant 4 months ago who said see how you get on with exercises and if you want to have a pessary/ring fitted at the next appt we'll fit one. He also said he didn't recommend surgery at present and that a ring would relieve my symptoms so that I could get on with life and that it wouldn't interfere with intercourse.

I lost the urge to pee ... ?!?

Okay so right after I went to the gyno last week, and was told I had uterine prolapse, I lost the urge to pee.

It's weird b/c for several years I was incontinent - I guess my uterus was pressing on my bladder - and now that it moved a little since Friday - I'm no longer incontinent, and now I can't tell when I have to go pee.

I got so used to having what they call urge incontinence - and now it is gone - I guess on one hand I should be thankful - I can't tell when I have to pee now!

Worsening of prolapse with pregnancy and terrified!!!

Hi everyone. I can't believe I have only just discovered this site!! Following the birth of my son a year ago I was left with a cystocele and rectocele. I was told this was "mild" but I could feel my cervix had dropped. I am now 10 weeks pregnant and was horrifed to discover yesterday (for the first time) that my cervix is JUST inside my vaginal opening. Is this normal during pregnancy? Why has it only happened now? What should I do to help improve it? Also I am interested in attempting a "no-pushing" birth. Has anyone tried this? Any other advice on the birth?

Newbie - Menopausal with Prolapse

Howdy from Texas, everyone - as we are sitting here contemplating the evacuees arriving in front of Hurricane Gustav, hoping the storm doesn't turn, I am also contemplating my health! I went to the doctor yesterday, and was dx'ed with uterine prolapse - I am menopausal - and the nurse practitioner suggested a hysterectomy since I was through having babies. She said my uterus was about an inch from my cervix, and was ready to fall through.
